Mladen Lukić (musician)
Mladen Lukić ( sr-Cyrl, Младен Лукић; born 1977) is a politician in Serbia. He has served in the National Assembly of Serbia on an almost continuous basis since 2014 as a member of the Serbian Progressive Party. Early life and career Lukić was born in Bajina Bašta, in what was then the Socialist Republic of Serbia in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. He is a forestry engineer and has worked in the Tara National Park. Political career Lukić became the leader of the local Progressive Party organization in Bajina Bašta at the time of the party's formation in 2008 and held this position until 2014. He was elected to the municipal assembly under the party's banner in 2012 and became a member of the municipal council in 2013, when the Progressive Party joined the local government. 2016 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 24 April 2016. Initially, the election were originally due to be held by March 2018, but on 17 January 2016 Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić called for a snap election claiming Serbia "needs four more years of stability so that it is ready to join the European Union". The elections were held simultaneously with provincial elections in Vojvodina and nationwide local elections. Voter turnout was 56%. Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party-led coalition retained its majority, winning 131 of the 250 seats. In contrast to the 2014 elections, a record-breaking seven non-minority lists passed the 5% threshold. Živko Vrcelj ( sr-Cyrl, Живко Врцељ; born 19 July 1959) is a medical doctor and politician in Serbia. He was a member of the Assembly of Vojvodina from 2012 to 2016 and briefly served in the National Assembly of Serbia in 2016 as a member of the Serbian Progressive Party. Vrcelj is currently the director of the Sremska Mitrovica General Hospital. Early life and career Vrcelj was raised in Ogulin in what was then the Socialist Republic of Croatia in the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. He graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1983 and subsequently worked as a surgeon in Zagreb and Ogulin until the outbreak of the Yugoslav Wars. From 1991 to 1995, he was a war surgeon in the Republika Srpska Krajina. He has worked in Sremska Mitrovica since 1996 and became head of the surgical department of medicine at the Sremska Mitrovica General Hospital in 2013. 2014 Serbian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Serbia on 16 March 2014, with nineteen electoral lists competing for 250 members of the National Assembly. The election was called early, after tensions in the coalition led by the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS). President of Serbia Tomislav Nikolić scheduled the election at the same time as the previously announced Belgrade City Assembly election. Voter turnout was 53.09%, with 3.22% of votes invalid. The Serbian Progressive Party and their coalition won the election by a landslide, receiving just under half the valid votes and winning an absolute majority of 158 seats in the assembly.
