Mizuno Tadamasa
(1493 – 22 August 1543) was a samurai lord of the Mizuno clan of feudal Japan. He was the father of Odai no Kata, the mother of ''shōgun'' Tokugawa Ieyasu. () is a Japanese sports equipment and sportswear company, founded in Osaka in 1906 by Rihachi Mizuno. Samurai
were the hereditary military nobility and officer caste of medieval and early-modern Japan from the late 12th century until their abolition in 1876. Odai No Kata
Odai no kata (於大の方, 1528–1602), also known as Dai, Daishi, and Denzûin, was a Japanese noble lady from the Sengoku period. She was the mother of Tokugawa Ieyasu, founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate. She was the daughter of Mizuno Tadamasa, the lord of Kariya Castle. She was married to Matsudaira Hirotada in 1541 and gave birth to Ieyasu two years later. After the Mizuno clan betrayed Hirotada in 1544, he divorced her and remarried. Shōgun
, officially , was the title of the military dictators of Japan during most of the period spanning from 1185 to 1868. Nominally appointed by the Emperor, shoguns were usually the de facto rulers of the country, though during part of the Kamakura period, shoguns were themselves figureheads, with real power in hands of the Shikken of the Hōjō clan. Tokugawa Ieyasu
was the founder and first ''shōgun'' of the Tokugawa Shogunate of Japan, which ruled Japan from 1603 until the Meiji Restoration in 1868. He was one of the three "Great Unifiers" of Japan, along with his former lord Oda Nobunaga and fellow Oda subordinate Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Mizuno Nobumoto
was a daimyō of Japan's Sengoku period. He was a son of Mizuno Tadamasa, and brother of Mizuno Tadashige. He is Tokugawa Ieyasu's uncle through Matsudaira Hirotada's marriage to his sister, Odai no Kata. In 1542, Nobumoto sided with Oda Nobuhide, but later served to Tokugawa Ieyasu. In 1543, he succeeded his father as lord of Kariya Castle. In 1554, the Imagawa clan came to the west and built the Muraki Castle in the southeast of Owari, besieging Mizuno Nobumoto at his castle of Ogawa. Mizuno Nobumoto informed about the situation to Oda Nobunaga. later, Nobunaga marched his army north and attacked the Imagawa forces in the Battle of Muraki Castle. Mizuno Tadashige
was a retainer of the Tokugawa clan following the later years of the Azuchi-Momoyama period of the 16th century. Biography Tadashige was the son of Mizuno Tadamasa and the brother of Mizuno Nobumoto. He participated in the Battle of Mikatagahara in 1573 against Takeda Shingen. In 1576, his brother, Nobumoto, was killed after betraying Tokugawa Ieyasu and later, he was given Kariya Castle.
