Mizrahi Jews ( he, יהודי המִזְרָח), also known as ''Mizrahim'' () or ''Mizrachi'' () and alternatively referred to as Oriental Jews or ''Edot HaMizrach'' (, ), are a grouping of Jewish communities comprising those who remained in the Land of Israel and those who existed in diaspora throughout and around the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) from biblical times into the modern era. Yehouda Shenhav
Yehouda Shenhav ( he, יהודה שנהב, born 26 February 1952) is an Israeli sociologist and critical theorist. He is known for his contributions in the fields of bureaucracy, management and capitalism, as well as for his research on ethnicity in Israeli society and its relationship with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Biography Yehouda Shaharabani (later Shenhav) was born in Beersheba in 1952 to a family of Iraqi Jews. At the age of three he moved with his family to Tel Aviv and again, at the age of ten, to Petah Tikva. In 1977 he received his BA in sociology and labor studies from the Tel Aviv University and four years later he received his Master's degree in Industrial management from the Technion. He then traveled to Stanford University, where he received another MA in 1983 and a PhD in 1985, both in sociology. Ishak Saporta ( he, יצחק ספורטא, born 12 April 1957) is a professor of business ethics at Tel Aviv University. Biography Ishak Saporta was born to parents who immigrated to Israel from Turkey. He has degrees in psychology, philosophy and labor studies. In 1995, he earned a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley in labor relations and organizational behavior. Saporta is a senior lecturer in the management faculty of Tel Aviv University. Saporta is a social activist and a board member of Adva Center for equality research in Israel. Yossi Dahan
Yossi Dahan (born 1954) is a law professor and the Head of the Human Rights Division at the College of Law and Business. He is the chairperson and cofounder of Adva Center, an editor and cofounder of Haokets.org, and teaches philosophy at the Open University. Dahan is an expert in labor law, workers' rights and global justice, theories of social justice, the right to education and educational justice. Biography Yossi Dahan was born in Morocco and immigrated to Israel in 1960. His family lived at first at the Beit Shemesh transition camp (ma'abara) and later at the Bat Yam transition camp, from which it moved to Holon where he graduated from the Kugel High School. Vicki Shiran
Vicki Shiran ( he, ויקי שירן; February 28, 1947 − March 15, 2004) was an Israeli criminologist, sociologist, poet, film director, media personality and activist. She was a leader of a movement promoting Mizrahi Jewish consciousness in Israel. She was an advocate of equal rights and played a key role in the fight for the advancement of Mizrahim (Jews who originate from Arab or Muslim countries). She was among the founders of The Mizrahi Democratic Coalition and the Feminist group Achoti, and is considered one of the founding mothers of the Mizrahi feminist movement. Yosef "Yossi" Yona ( he, יוסף "יוסי" יונה, born 8 June 1953) is an Israeli academic and politician. He served as a member of the Knesset for the Labor Party between 2015 and 2019. Biography Yona was born in the ma'abara of Kiryat Ata. His parents Salman and Sabrina had immigrated from Iraq and he was one of six children. He attended the Nahum Sokolow high school in Kiryat Ata.
