Mixshow Power Summit
Power Summit, previously known as Mixshow Power Summit, is an annual four-day urban music conference. It was established in 1998 by Rene McLean, founder and CEO of RPM GRP. The conference ran for ten years, concluding in 2008. It was the largest urban music conference held in the United States. Overview Power Summit was a four-day conference for radio, mixshow and club disc jockeys around the world. The conference included performances from featured artists, keynote speakers, panels, showcases, the Mixshow Power Summit Awards, meet-and-greets and other activities. Beginning in 1998, the conference was established by Rene McLean of RPM. The location of the event changed from year to year, sometimes remaining in the same destination for up to three years in a row. Urban Music
Urban contemporary music, also known as urban music, hip hop, urban pop, or just simply urban, is a music radio format. The term was coined by New York radio DJ Frankie Crocker in the early to mid-1970s as a synonym for Black music. Urban contemporary radio stations feature a playlist made up entirely of Black genres such as R&B, pop-rap, quiet storm, urban adult contemporary, hip hop, Latin music such as Latin pop, Chicano R&B and Chicano rap, and Caribbean music such as reggae and soca. Urban contemporary was developed through the characteristics of genres such as R&B and soul. Jay Wayne Jenkins (born September 28, 1977), known by his stage name Jeezy (or Young Jeezy), is an American rapper.
