''Mixed Blood'' is a remix/cover album of songs originally by Belgian-Australian singer-songwriter Gotye, released in July 2007. All the songs are from his album ''Like Drawing Blood'', except for "The Only Thing I Know" and "Out of My Mind", which come from Gotye's debut album ''Boardface'' (although a version of "The Only Thing I Know" was later included in the international release of ''Like Drawing Blood'' in 2008). Karnivool's cover of "The Only Way" came 63rd in the Triple J Hottest 100, 2007. Gotye
Wouter André "Wally" De Backer (born 21 May 1980), better known by his stage name Gotye ( ), is a Belgian-Australian multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. The name "Gotye" is a pronunciation respelling of "Gauthier", the French cognate of his Dutch given name "Wouter". Gotye has released three studio albums independently and one album featuring remixes of tracks from his first two albums. He is a founding member of the Melbourne indie-pop trio The Basics, who have independently released four studio albums and numerous other titles since 2002. His voice has been compared to those of Peter Gabriel and Sting. Gotye achieved breakout success with his 2011 single "Somebody That I Used to Know", reaching number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and becoming the best-selling song of 2012. Creative Vibes
Creative Vibes was a record label that sourced, signed and released local Australian acts. It also licensed material from overseas and imported CDs and vinyl from around the world and had its own sales and distribution arm. Creative Vibes was nominated for 'Best Independent Label' at the Australian Dance Music Awards (DMA's), between 2000 and 2004, winning the award in 2000 and 2002. ''Like Drawing Blood'' is the second studio album by Belgian-Australian singer-songwriter Gotye. All the sounds on the album were collected and assembled or performed by Wally De Backer in bedrooms around Melbourne between 2003 and 2005, and the record was mixed and mastered by François Tétaz ('' Wolf Creek'' soundtrack, Machine Translations, Architecture in Helsinki). It was featured heavily by Triple J in May 2006. At the J Award of 2006, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year. ''Making Mirrors'' is the third studio album by Belgian-Australian singer-songwriter Gotye, released in Australia on 19 August 2011. In December 2011 it was announced that ''Making Mirrors'' was voted Triple J listeners' number-one album of 2011, making Gotye the first artist to win the Triple J album poll twice. It included the single "Somebody That I Used to Know", which reached and topped charts worldwide. In Poland, only one day after release, the album was certified platinum. The album won the 2013 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album. The album was largely recorded at a converted studio at Gotye's parents' farm in the Mornington Peninsula. Boardface
''Boardface'' is the debut studio album by Belgian-Australian singer Gotye. It was originally released in 2003, and then re-released as a companion to his follow-up breakthrough album, ''Like Drawing Blood''. Development In 2001, Gotye recorded his first tracks primarily using samples. He put together a four-track CD which included the song "Out Here in the Cold". He made approximately 50 copies of this first collection, handwriting the track list and colouring in the cover sleeve in pencil. He drew on his cultural history for inspiration when naming his new project; Wouter, Gotye's birth name, translates into French as Gaultier (or Gautier or Gauthier), a pet name used by his mother (who gave French classes) when he was a child. Karnivool
Karnivool is an Australian progressive rock band formed in Perth in 1997. The group currently consists of Ian Kenny on vocals, Drew Goddard and Mark Hosking on guitar, Jon Stockman on bass, and Steve Judd on drums. Karnivool emerged from a band Kenny and Goddard formed during high school. They have released three studio albums to date. The 2007 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on Australia Day, 26 January 2008. It was the fifteenth countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by the listeners of Australian radio station Triple J. Voting began on 1 January 2008, and closed on 20 January 2008. More than 700,000 votes were counted in the poll. The broadcast began at 10 a.m. AEST, and for the first time was broadcast live to all time zones (as opposed to being on a delayed broadcast). Triple J hosted two live sites, one at The Domain, Sydney and one at Melbourne Docklands. The 2007 poll was the closest in Hottest 100 history with only 13 votes separating the number 1 and 2 songs. Triple J (stylised in all lowercase) is a government-funded, national Australian Radio in Australia, radio station intended to appeal to listeners of alternative music, which began broadcasting in January 1975. The station also places a greater emphasis on broadcasting music of Australia, Australian content compared to commercial stations. Triple J is a division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Infusion (band)
Infusion were an Australian electronica band, originally from Wollongong which formed in 1995. They are best known for their ARIA Music Award-winning song "Girls Can Be Cruel" and ''Six Feet Above Yesterday''. Career 1995-2002: Early Days and ''Phrases and Numbers'' Infusion founding members, Jamie Stevens and Manuel Sharrad, met in 1988 at a local high school in Wollongong. Frank Xavier also hails from Wollongong, although he did not meet the other two until they had relocated to Sydney. Velure
Velure is an alternative rock and Southern rock band based in Athens, Georgia, though five of the six members (Rich, Jeff, Ben, Franher, and Darren) now reside in Atlanta, Georgia. Their music is noteworthy for their live shows, four-part harmonies, lyrical content, and diverse sound. History Velure was co-founded by Rich Turbo and longtime friend and musical partner Ben Holst, originally of Six Shades Blue in Athens, Georgia, in 1999.
