Mitcham is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 20 km east from Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Whitehorse local government area. Mitcham recorded a population of 16,795 at the 2021 census. History Mitcham was named after Mitcham Grove, a farm property that was owned by William Slater, who grew roses and herbs for perfumes and remedies. From its settlement in the 1860s, the Mitcham area was generally used for orchards, brickmaking and pottery. Mitcham Post Office opened on 1 June 1884. Electoral District Of Ringwood (Victoria)
The electoral district of Ringwood is an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly, located in the east of Melbourne. It was first proclaimed in 1958 and was abolished in 1992. Some of Ringwood was included in the new electoral district of Bayswater that year. Kay Setches, the last member for Ringwood, contested and lost Bayswater at the 1992 election. The electorate was created again in the 2013 redistribution of electoral boundaries that took effect at the 2014 state election. The new district largely replaces the abolished district of Mitcham, covering suburbs along the eastern parts of the Maroondah Highway. The abolished district of Mitcham was held by Liberal MP Dee Ryall, who lost the seat in a big swing against her in 2018. David O'Neil (born 8 May 1965) is an Australian stand-up comedian, actor, bass guitarist, writer, television and radio presenter with unusually large thumbs. Early career Dave was a Cub, Scout, Venturer and Rover. His late father Kevin was the Group Leader at the 1st/3rd Mitcham Scout Group. After finishing high school, O'Neil completed a course in primary school teaching; however, he never taught. He became a field officer for the Red Cross, giving talks and training sessions, where he first enjoyed public speaking and the opportunity to tell jokes. EastLink, Melbourne
EastLink is a tolled section of the M3 freeway linking a large area through the eastern and south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. EastLink is electronically tolled with no cash booths, using a system developed by SICE. The SICE Tolling System is similar to (and interoperable with) the '' e-TAG'' system used on the CityLink tollway.
