Missouri Route 102
Route 102 is a highway in southeastern Missouri. The route starts at Route 105 near East Prairie. It travels southeastwards through farmland to Big Oak Tree State Park. The road then turns east past the entrance to the park, and ends at its eastern terminus at Route 77 in Dorena. The route was designated in 1940, as a road from the state park to a supplemental route. Route 102 replaced a large section of the supplemental route in 1961, and then was extended eastwards to a new terminus at Route 77 in 1994. Route description All of the route is located in Mississippi County. In 2016, Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) calculated as many as 894 vehicles traveling on Route 102 east of Route 105, and as few as 222 vehicles, including 104 trucks, traveling east of Route RB. East Prairie, Missouri
East Prairie is a city in Mississippi County, Missouri, United States. The population was 2,943 at the 2020 census. History A post office called East Prairie has been in operation since 1872. The community took its name from a prairie of the same near the original town site. The current town, which lies about a mile south of the original post office site, was established in 1883 as a stop along the St. Louis Southwestern Railway ("Cotton Belt"), and was originally known as "Hibbard." The East Prairie postmaster, S.P. Martin, moved the post office to the new town site. By 1900, the city's name had been changed from "Hibbard" to "East Prairie." Hess Archeological Site, Hoecake Village Archeological Site, and Mueller Archeological Site, some of which contain Native American burial mounds, are located near East Prairie and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Missouri Route 55
Route 77 is a highway in southeastern Missouri. Its northern terminus is at Route 25 about four miles (6 km) south of Dutchtown; its southern terminus is at the Mississippi River in southeastern Mississippi County. The Dorena–Hickman Ferry connects the road with Kentucky Route 1354 in Kentucky. Route 77 was previously Route 55, renumbered to avoid duplication with Interstate 55. This route was created in 1922 from Wolf Island to Benton, and was extended to Dutchtown in the early 1930s. Sikeston, Missouri
Sikeston is a city located both in southern Scott County and northern New Madrid County, in the state of Missouri, United States. It is situated just north of the "Missouri Bootheel", although many locals consider Sikeston a part of it. By way of Interstate 55, Interstate 57, and U.S. Route 60, Sikeston is close to the halfway point between St. Louis and Memphis and three hours from Nashville. The city is named after John Sikes, who founded it in 1860. It is the principal city of the Sikeston Micropolitan Statistical Area, which consists of all of Scott County, and has a total population of 41,143. Atchison County is the northwesternmost county in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, the county had a population of 5,305. Its county seat is Rock Port. It was originally known as Allen County when it was detached from Holt County in 1843. The county was officially organized on February 14, 1845, and named for U.S. Senator David Rice Atchison from Missouri.
