Missoula Maggots
The Missoula All Maggots RFC or the Missoula Maggots are an amateur Rugby football club based out of Missoula Montana. The Maggots were established in 1976 by former University of Montana rugby club players recently graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula. Fort Missoula
Fort Missoula was established by the United States Army in 1877 on land that is now part of the city of Missoula, Montana, Missoula, Montana, to protect settlers in Western Montana from possible threats from the Indigenous peoples of the Americas, Native American Indians, such as the Nez Perce tribe, Nez Perce. Beginning in 1888, the fort was home to the famous ''Buffalo Soldiers'' of the 25th Infantry Regiment (United States), 25th Infantry Regiment (3rd Formation). While stationed at Fort Missoula, this unit tested the practicality of soldiers traveling by bicycles by conducting numerous training rides, with one ride all the way to St. Louis, Missouri. Missoula PaddleHeads
The Missoula PaddleHeads are an independent baseball team of the Pioneer League, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball (MLB) but is an MLB Partner League. They are located in Missoula, Montana, and play their home games at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field. In conjunction with a contraction of Minor League Baseball in 2021, the Pioneer League, of which the PaddleHeads have been members since 1999, was converted from an MLB-affiliated Rookie Advanced league to an independent baseball league and granted status as an MLB Partner League, with Missoula continuing as members. Prior to this, the PaddleHeads had been affiliated with the Arizona Diamondbacks (1996–2020). The team has won the Pioneer League championship five times; in 1999, 2006, 2012, 2015, and 2021. The ''Missoulian'' is a daily newspaper printed in Missoula, Montana, United States. The newspaper has been owned by Lee Enterprises since 1959. The ''Missoulian'' is the largest published newspaper in Western Montana, and is distributed throughout the city of Missoula, and most of Western Montana. History Early years The ''Missoulian'' was established as the ''Missoula and Cedar Creek Pioneer'' on September 15, 1870, by the Magee Brothers and I. H. Morrison, under the Montana Publishing Company. Though strictly conservative politically, the paper was never intended to advance any particular "clique or party". The ''Montana Kaimin'' is the University of Montana's student-run independent newspaper located in Missoula, Montana. The paper is printed once a week, Thursday, with special editions printed occasionally. The current editor-in-chief is Griffen Smith. The newspaper is divided into four sections: news, sports, arts and culture, and opinion. It is printed in color. The name "Kaimin" is derived from the Salish Indian word "Q̓ey̓min" and means "something written" or a "message".
