Mississippi Slim (blues Musician)
Walter Horn Jr. (August 13, 1943 – April 14, 2010), known by the stage name Mississippi Slim, was an American blues singer and performer. Horn was born in Shelby and grew up in Greenville, Mississippi. In the early 1960s he worked as a tractor driver while singing in local clubs, and in 1968 moved to Chicago to pursue a singing career. Using the name Mississippi Slim, he performed in clubs in Chicago where he became known for his multicolored hair and mismatched clothing, and toured with other blues singers such as Junior Wells. In 1974, he recorded "Crying In The Arms of Another Love", released by Sunflower Records. He returned to live in Mississippi in 1994, continuing to perform in local clubs and at festivals, and becoming active in Mississippi's "Blues In Schools" Project. Shelby is a city in Bolivar County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 2,229 at the 2010 census, down from 2,926 in 2000. Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Junior Wells
Junior Wells (born Amos Wells Blakemore Jr., December 9, 1934January 15, 1998) was an American singer, harmonica player, and recording artist. He is best known for his signature song "Messin' with the Kid" and his 1965 album ''Hoodoo Man Blues'', described by the critic Bill Dahl as "one of the truly classic blues albums of the 1960s". Wells himself categorized his music as rhythm and blues. Wells performed and recorded with various notable blues musicians, including Muddy Waters, Earl Hooker, and Buddy Guy. He remained a fixture on the blues scene throughout his career and also crossed over to rock audiences while touring with the Rolling Stones. Sunflower Records
Sunflower Records was a Los Angeles, California-based record label founded by songwriter Mack David and music industry veteran Danny Kessler that operated from 1970 to 1972. The label was distributed by MGM Records. Sunflower issued fewer than 30 singles and a dozen albums. Albums Early in its operation, Sunflower obtained the rights to some 1966 vintage concert recordings by the Grateful Dead. They issued these as the albums ''Vintage Dead'' (SUN-5001) and ''Historic Dead'' (SNF-5004), both of which made the record charts. They followed the first Grateful Dead LP with another live set, ''Live At The Family Dog'' (SUN-5002) from popular performer Danny Cox, who reminded listeners of the folk era. Another artist was Randy Edelman, who would later find success in writing songs picked up by more famous artists such as Barry Manilow. Myocardial Infarction
A myocardial infarction (MI), commonly known as a heart attack, occurs when blood flow decreases or stops to the coronary artery of the heart, causing damage to the heart muscle. The most common symptom is chest pain or discomfort which may travel into the shoulder, arm, back, neck or jaw. Often it occurs in the center or left side of the chest and lasts for more than a few minutes. The discomfort may occasionally feel like heartburn.
