Mississippi Highway 47 (MS 47) is a state highway located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The route starts at MS 50 west of West Point in Clay County. The road then travels northwest through small communities in Clay and Chickasaw counties, and it intersects MS 8 in Trebloc, Chickasaw County. MS 47 ends at Aberdeen Road near Buena Vista, and the road continues as MS 385. The route was designated around 1934, from MS 10 (now MS 50) near West Point to MS 8 in Buena Vista, and MS 8 was rerouted south through Trebloc by 1944. MS 47 was fully paved by 1958. Palo Alto (also Savannah) is a ghost town in Clay County, Mississippi, United States. Established c. 1846, it is located at (33.6806738, -88.8000525) at an elevation of 279 feet (85 m). A carriage factory, general store, and the Palo Alto Inn were formerly in operation in Palo Alto. ''The Clarion Ledger'' is an American daily newspaper in Jackson, Mississippi. It is the second-oldest company in the state of Mississippi, and is one of the few newspapers in the nation that continues to circulate statewide. It is an operating division of Gannett River States Publishing Corporation, owned by Gannett. History The paper traces its roots to ''The Eastern Clarion,'' founded in Jasper County, Mississippi, in 1837. Later that year, it was sold and moved to Meridian, Mississippi. After the American Civil War, it was moved to Jackson, the capital, and merged with ''The Standard''. It soon became known as ''The Clarion''. In 1888, ''The Clarion'' merged with the ''State Ledger'' and became known as the ''Daily Clarion-Ledger''. Four employees who were displaced by the merger founded their own newspaper, ''The Jackson Evening Post'', in 1892. Mississippi Highway 32 (MS 32) is a state highway in northern Mississippi it runs from east to west for , serving the counties of Bolivar, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Yalobusha, Calhoun, and Chickasaw. The publicly accessible portion of MS 32 is divided into two sections, the first of which begins near Perthshire and runs eastward to the rear entrance of the Mississippi State Penitentiary (MSP). Mississippi Highway 50 (MS 50) is a state highway in Mississippi. It generally follows an east/west track for and runs from MS 9 in Walthall, Mississippi, east to the Alabama state line east of Columbus. MS 50 serves the following Mississippi counties: Lowndes, Clay, and Webster. Route description MS 50 begins in the North Central Hills region (part of the Appalachian Foothills) in Webster County at an intersection with MS 9 in the village of Walthall.
