Mississippi Highway 145
Mississippi Highway 145 (MS 145) is the designation for the parts of the old U.S. Route 45 (US 45) roadbed that the state continues to maintain or has designated. Those ten sections travel through Waynesboro, near Boice, through Shubuta, from De Soto to Meridian, through Shuqualak, through Macon, through Aberdeen, through Nettleton, from Shannon to Booneville, and through Corinth. Waynesboro US 45 was fully rerouted out of Waynesboro in 2004, and the old alignment became MS 145. MS 145 begins south of town at an intersection with US 45. It heads north through rural and wooded areas before entering the city limits as Mississippi Drive and passing through neighborhoods. Mississippi Highway 510
Mississippi Highway 510 (MS 510) is a state highway in eastern Mississippi. The route starts at MS 145 near Shubuta and travels eastward. The road turns southward near Matherville, and the route ends southeast of the unincorporated area. The road was constructed around 1957, and majority of the road was paved by 1967. Quitman, Mississippi
Quitman is a city in Clarke County, Mississippi, United States, along the Chickasawhay River. The population was 2,323 at the 2010 census. Quitman is the county seat of Clarke County. History Quitman was established in 1839 and named as the county seat. During the Civil War, a hospital built with funds raised in Galveston and Houston, among other places, was built there for the care of Confederate soldiers from Texas. Originally staffed by Dr. Louis Bryan with supplies purchased in Mexico, he was joined, and later supplanted, by Dr. Enos Bonney, a surgeon from Enterprise, Mississippi, who stayed until the hospital was burned down. Bonney married and had a son; he died in 1869 in Bellville, Texas. Though it cared for troops from any state, the hospital was colloquially known as "The Texas Hospital."
