Miss Venezuela 2012 was the 59th edition of the Miss Venezuela pageant held on August 30, 2012 at the ''Hotel Tamanaco Intercontinental'' in Caracas, Venezuela. At the end of the event, outgoing titleholder Irene Esser crowned Gabriela Isler of Guárico as her successor. The queens of this edition went on to have successful runs in many international beauty pageants such as Gabriela Isler and Alyz Henrich, winners of Miss Universe 2013 and Miss Earth 2013 respectively. María Gabriela de Jesús Isler Morales (born 21 March 1988) is a Venezuelan TV host, fashion model and beauty queen who was crowned Miss Universe 2013, gaining placement as the seventh Miss Universe of her country. Isler is the founder of ''Universe of Blessings Fund'', a charity organization devoted to female empowerment and counseling. In addition, Isler is currently the national director of Miss Venezuela, succeeding Osmel Sousa. Early and personal life Isler was born in the city of Valencia, to a Swiss-German father and Venezuelan mother, but has studied and lived in Maracay since she was little. She holds a BA in management and marketing from Universidad Tecnológica del Centro. She is of Swiss and German heritage and also holds Swiss citizenship by descent. Irene Sofía Esser Quintero (born 20 November 1991) is a Venezuelan actress, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Venezuela 2011. Esser grew up in Río Caribe, Sucre, Venezuela. She represented Venezuela in Miss Universe 2012, finishing as 2nd Runner-Up. Personal life Irene Esser was born in the city of Puerto Ordaz, but has studied and lived in the town of Río Caribe, located in the state of Sucre, since she was a little girl. Her father, Billy Esser Bonta, is an important cacao businessman, owner of Hacienda Bukare, founded in 1997. After graduating from "Andres Bello High School" in Carupano, she moved to England, where she took a course at Shrewsbury College. Táchira State ( es, Estado Táchira, ) is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. The state capital is San Cristóbal. Táchira State covers a total surface area of and as of the 2011 census, had a population of 1,168,908. At the end of the 19th century, Táchira State was where oil was discovered in Venezuela. Yaracuy State ( es, link=no, Estado Yaracuy, ;) is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. It is bordered by Falcón in the north, in the west by Lara, in the south by Portuguesa and Cojedes and in the east by Cojedes and Carabobo. Guajira Peninsula
The Guajira Peninsula ( es, Península de La Guajira, links=no, also spelled ''Goajira'', mainly in colonial period texts, guc, Hikükariby) is a peninsula in northern Colombia and northwestern Venezuela in the Caribbean. It is the northernmost peninsula in South America and has an area of extending from the Manaure Bay (Colombia) to the Calabozo Ensenada in the Gulf of Venezuela (Venezuela), and from the Caribbean to the Serranía del Perijá mountains range. It was the subject of a historic dispute between Venezuela and Colombia in 1891, and on arbitration was awarded to the latter and joined to its Magdalena Department. Elián Herrera (model)
Elián Herrera (January 4, 1991) is a Venezuelan model, volleyball player and beauty pageant titleholder. She represented Aragua state at Miss Venezuela 2012. On August 30, 2012, during the Miss Venezuela 2012 pageant, Elián finished as first runner-up and was crowned Miss Venezuela International 2012. She represented Venezuela in Miss International 2013 but failed to place in the semifinals yet she got the third place at the Miss Internet on line poll. Elián is an avid sportswoman, she was part of the Venezuela National Female Volleyball team. She represented Venezuela during the ''Juegos Suramericanos Juveniles'' in 2009.
