Miss Venezuela 2000
Miss Venezuela 2000 was the 47th Miss Venezuela pageant, was held in Caracas, Venezuela, on September 8, 2000, after weeks of events. The winner of the pageant was Eva Ekvall, Miss Apure. The pageant was broadcast live on Venevision from the Poliedro de Caracas in Caracas, Venezuela. At the conclusion of the final night of competition, outgoing titleholder Martina Thorogood crowned Eva Ekvall of Apure as the new Miss Venezuela. Eva Ekvall-Johnson
Eva Mónica Anna Ekvall Johnson (March 15, 1983 – December 17, 2011) was a Venezuelan television news anchor, author, advocate in the fight against breast cancer, fashion model and former Miss Venezuela. After winning the competition, she had a brief career in television before being diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. She was married to John Fabio Bermudez; the couple had one child before Ekvall's death from the disease in 2011. Early life Ekvall was born in Caracas, Venezuela. She was raised in both the United States and Venezuela and was fluent in English and Spanish from childhood. Ekvall attended the Academia Washington of Caracas. Her father, Eric Ekvall, was an American of Swedish descent, who had lived in Venezuela since the early 1980s and worked as actor and political consultant. Miss Venezuela (Spanish: ''Organización Miss Venezuela'') is the national beauty pageant of Venezuela, traditionally held in September. It is preceded by two or three months of preliminary events, with the awarding of corporate prizes. Lara (state)
Lara State ( es, Estado Lara, ) is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. The state capital is Barquisimeto. Lara State covers a total surface area of and, in 2015, had a census population of 2,019,211. Zulia

Guajira Peninsula
The Guajira Peninsula ( es, Península de La Guajira, links=no, also spelled ''Goajira'', mainly in colonial period texts, guc, Hikükariby) is a peninsula in northern Colombia and northwestern Venezuela in the Caribbean. It is the northernmost peninsula in South America and has an area of extending from the Manaure Bay (Colombia) to the Calabozo Ensenada in the Gulf of Venezuela (Venezuela), and from the Caribbean to the Serranía del Perijá mountains range.
