Miss Venezuela 1984 was the 31st Miss Venezuela pageant, was held in Caraballeda, Vargas state, Venezuela, on May 11, 1984, after weeks of events. The winner of the pageant was Carmen María Montiel, Miss Zulia. The pageant was broadcast live on Venevision from the Macuto Sheraton Hotel in Caraballeda, Vargas state. At the conclusion of the final night of competition, outgoing titleholder Paola Ruggeri, crowned Carmen María Montiel of Zulia as the new Miss Venezuela. Carmen María Montiel
Carmen María Montiel Ávila (born December 19, 1964), Miss Venezuela 1984, is an American journalist, writer and activist. She is the author of the 2020 memoir ''Stolen Identity: A Story of Love, Violence and Liberation''. Education and career Born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, to a traditional Spanish colonial family, Montiel entered the Miss Venezuela pageant at age 19; she would win Miss VenezuelaMiss South America and Second Runner-Up in Miss Universe Pageant in 1984. That year, Montiel would create the charitable foundation “Las Misses” to aid pediatric hospitals in Venezuela, Ecuador, and Peru. Lara State ( es, Estado Lara, ) is one of the 23 states of Venezuela, states of Venezuela. The state capital is Barquisimeto.
