Miss Venezuela 1983
Miss Venezuela 1983 was 30th Miss Venezuela pageant, was held in Caraballeda, Vargas state, Venezuela, on May 5, 1983, after weeks of events. The winner of the pageant was Paola Ruggeri, Miss Portuguesa. The pageant was broadcast live on Venevision from the Macuto Sheraton Hotel in Caraballeda, Vargas state. At the conclusion of the final night of competition, outgoing titleholder Ana Teresa Oropeza, crowned Paola Ruggeri of Portuguesa as the new Miss Venezuela. The pageant telecast was also part of the network preparations for its broadcast of the 1983 Pan American Games in Caracas later in the year, with Joaquin Rivera acting as executive producer of both the opening and closing ceremonies. For this, a special number was done during the pageant promoting the multisport event. Paola Laura Ruggeri Ghigo (born July 14, 1961 in Caracas, Venezuela) is Miss Venezuela 1983. She placed 7th in Miss Universe 1983 as the only Latin American among the Top 12 semifinalists. Miss Venezuela Ruggeri competed in 1983 as Miss Portuguesa in her country's national beauty pageant, Miss Venezuela, capturing the crown and the right to represent her country in Miss Universe 1983. Miss Universe As the official representative of her country to the 1983 Miss Universe pageant held in St. Louis, Missouri on July 11, 1983, she was the only Latin American contestant in the semifinals, won the preliminary swimsuit competition and placed third in the semifinal evening gown competition, placing 7th overall. Yaracuy
Yaracuy State ( es, link=no, Estado Yaracuy, ;) is one of the 23 states of Venezuela. It is bordered by Falcón in the north, in the west by Lara, in the south by Portuguesa and Cojedes and in the east by Cojedes and Carabobo.
