Miss USA 1958 was the 7th Miss USA pageant, held in Long Beach, California on July 23, 1958. The pageant was won by Eurlyne Howell of Louisiana, who was crowned by outgoing titleholder Charlotte Sheffield of Utah. Howell went on to finish as 3rd runner-up to Luz Marina Zuluaga of Colombia at Miss Universe 1958. The 1958 pageant was the last to include a city delegate (Kathleen Conyers of Philadelphia) in the line-up. Results Historical significance * Louisiana wins competition for the first time. Eurlyne Howell
Arlene Howell (born Eurlyne Howell; October 26, 1939) is an American former actress and beauty pageant titleholder who won the title of Miss USA 1958. Early life and education Howell was born in Delhi, Louisiana, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Howell. The family moved to Bossier City, Louisiana, in 1952. She has two sisters. They attended local schools. Howell graduated from Bossier High School (Louisiana), Bossier High School, class of 1957, in Bossier City. She studied speech and dramatics at Centenary College of Louisiana. Beauty pageant and acting career Howell entered the state level of the Miss USA beauty pageant, hoping to earn some money to support her work in an acting career. Miss Washington USA
The Miss Washington USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Washington in the Miss USA pageant. It is currently produced by Pageants NW Productions based in Puyallup, Washington, which also produces Idaho, Montana and Oregon state pageants. Washington has been moderately successful in terms of number of semi-finalists and placements, and has had one Miss USA. Dorothy Anstett won the crown in 1968 and went on to place 4th runner-up at Miss Universe. The most recent placement was Tara McCormick in 2004, placing Top 15. Prior to 2017, no Washington delegate had previously competed at Miss Teen USA, although one has competed at Miss America. Miss Texas USA
The Miss Texas USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state Texas in the Miss USA pageant, and the name of the title held by that winner. This pageant is part of the Miss USA Organization, owned by Texas native Crystle Stewart, herself a Miss USA for 2008. The pageant is currently held in Houston. It has previously been hosted by El Paso, San Antonio, South Padre Island, Lubbock and Laredo. It was televised from 1971 to 2009. The current titleholder is R'Bonney Gabriel of Houston and was crowned on July 2, 2022 at Hilton Houston Post Oak in Houston. Miss Tennessee USA
The Miss Tennessee USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Tennessee in the Miss USA pageant. The pageant is directed by Greenwood Productions under the ownership of Miss Tennessee USA 1989, Kimberly Payne Greenwood, since 1992. Since 1999, the pageant has been held at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. Lynnette Cole, Miss Tennessee USA 2000, and Rachel Smith, Miss Tennessee USA 2007, are the only titleholders to win the Miss USA title and both previously won the Miss Tennessee Teen USA title. The current titleholder is Heather Nunez of New York City was crowned on June 4, 2022, at the Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel in Niagara Falls, New York. The Miss Nebraska USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state Nebraska in the Miss USA pageant. The pageant is directed by Vanbros & Associates, headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas. In 2002, Nebraska joined the Vanbros group of state pageants for the Miss USA and Teen USA system. The Miss Montana USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Montana in the Miss USA pageant. Miss California USA is the beauty pageant that selects the representative for the state of California in the Miss USA pageant, and the name of the title held by that winner. Miss Georgia USA
The Miss Georgia USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Georgia in the Miss USA pageant. This pageant is directed Greenwood Productions under the ownership of Miss Tennessee USA 1989 Kim Greenwood and it is hosted in McDonough, Georgia.
