Miss Earth Jamaica is an annual national beauty pageant to select a delegate to represent Jamaica at the international Miss Earth pageant. The current Miss Earth Jamaica is Catherine Harris who was crowned on September 23, 2020. A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Miss Jamaica World is a national beauty pageant in Jamaica that selects a contestant to represent the country in the Miss World beauty pageant. History The Miss Jamaica pageant's predecessor, the "Miss Jamaica Contest", dates back to the 1930s. The winner of Miss Jamaica represents Jamaica at the Miss World pageant from 1978–present. Miss Universe Jamaica (formerly Miss Jamaica Universe) is a beauty pageant that selects the contestant to represent Jamaica at the Miss Universe beauty pageant. History Although Jamaica started competing at the Miss Universe Pageant in 1961, the Miss Universe Jamaica pageant officially started in 1982 and was organised by Ed Wallace to select the official representative. This was won by Nancy Martin who was slated to compete at the Miss Universe pageant, but was unable to do so. Jenaae Jackson
Jenaae Jackson (born June 1, 1990) is a Jamaican blogger and beauty pageant titleholder. She was crowned Miss Earth Jamaica 2009 in August 2009. She is the third representative of Jamaica to compete in the international pageant, Miss Earth, since it started in 2001. Jackson represented Jamaica in the Miss Earth 2009, held in Boracay, Philippines. In 2013 she placed first runner up to Gina Hargitay in the Miss Jamaica World 2013 Pageant. Miss Earth 2020
Miss Earth 2020, the 20th anniversary of the Miss Earth pageant, the first virtual coronation of any major pageant in the world. The pageant was held on 29 November 2020 where Miss Earth 2019 Nellys Pimentel of Puerto Rico was succeeded by Lindsey Coffey of the United States at the end of the event. This marked the first time a delegate representing the United States won Miss Earth, becoming the fourth country to win all of the Big Four international beauty pageants at least once.
