Miss Earth Colombia
Miss Earth Colombia or Miss Tierra Colombia is a title given to a woman who is selected to represent Colombia at Miss Earth, an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. The current Miss Earth Colombia is Andrea Aguilera from Antioquia Titleholders The Miss Earth Colombia Organization used to appoint a Colombian woman to represent Colombia in Miss Earth. Starting 2014, a national competition was held. The first competition was won by María Alejandra Villafañe Osorio and the competition was held in Armenia, Colombia. Beauty Pageant
A beauty pageant is a competition that has traditionally focused on judging and ranking the physical attributes of the contestants. Pageants have now evolved to include inner beauty, with criteria covering judging of personality, intelligence, talent, character, and charitable involvement, through private interviews with judges and answers to public on-stage questions. The term beauty pageant refers originally to the Big Four international beauty pageants. Pageant titles are subdivided into Miss, Mrs. or Ms., and Teen – to clearly identify the difference between pageant divisions. Hundreds and thousands of beauty contests are held annually, but the Big Four are considered the most prestigious, widely covered and broadcast by media. Miss Earth 2015
Miss Earth 2015, the 15th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on 5 December 2015 at Marx Halle in Vienna, Austria. Jamie Herrell of the Philippines crowned her compatriot Angelia Ong as successor at the end of the event. It was the first time the pageant was held in Europe outside of Asia. It was also the first ever back-to-back victory in Miss Earth history. At the end of the night, Australia got its highest placement to date through Dayanna Grageda's finish as Miss Earth-Air 2015 where she was crowned by Andrea Neu, Miss Earth-Air 2014 from United States; Brittany Payne of United States was crowned Miss Earth-Water 2015, and Thiessa Sickert of Brazil was crowned as Miss Earth-Fire 2015 and she was crowned by Anastasia Trusova, Miss Earth-Fire 2014 from Russia. Olga Álava of Ecuador crowned her successor Tereza Fajksová of the Czech Republic at the end of the event. Miss Earth-Air went to Stephany Stefanowitz, a 23-year-old German-Filipino fashion designer and model from Quezon City, Philippines. La Guajira Department
La Guajira () is a department of Colombia. It occupies most of the Guajira Peninsula in the northeast region of the country, on the Caribbean Sea and bordering Venezuela, at the northernmost tip of South America. Miss Earth 2011, the 11th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on December 3, 2011 at the University of the Philippines Theater, inside the campus of the University of the Philippines Diliman in Quezon City, Philippines. Nicole Faria of India crowned her successor Olga Álava of Ecuador at the end of the event. The show was aired live by Channel V at 8:00 pm, while Star World broadcast on Sunday, 4 December at 6:00 pm, ABS-CBN and Studio 23 broadcast on the same day at 10:30 pm. There was also a delayed telecast of the show on The Filipino Channel and on the television stations of other participating countries. The pageant was originally scheduled to be held at the Impact, Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok, Thailand, however the pageant organizers decided to move the pageant back to the Philippines due to the 2011 Thailand floods. Miss Earth 2010, the 10th anniversary of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on 4 December 2010 at the Vinpearl Land Amphitheater in Nha Trang, Vietnam. Larissa Ramos of Brazil crowned her successor Nicole Faria of India at the end of the event. She was the first Miss Earth from India. Eighty-four contestants from various countries and territories competed for the Miss Earth 2010 title. The event was broadcast live by STAR World, VTV, ABS-CBN, Studio 23, The Filipino Channel, and other partner networks. The Miss Earth winner serves as the spokesperson for the Miss Earth Foundation, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and other environmental organizations. Miss Earth 2009, the 9th edition of the Miss Earth pageant, was held on November 22, 2009 at the Boracay Ecovillage Resort and Convention Center in Boracay, Malay, Aklan, Philippines. Karla Henry of Philippines crowned her successor Larissa Ramos of Brazil at the end of the event. The pageant had 80 delegates from various countries and territories that vied for the Miss Earth crown. The pageant's Top 16 competed on both swimsuit and evening gown competitions to determine the Top 8, the first time since 2003.
