''Miss April'' (Swedish: ''Fröken April'') is a 1958 Swedish comedy film directed by Göran Gentele and starring Gunnar Björnstrand, Lena Söderblom and Gaby Stenberg. It was shot at the Sundbyberg Studios in Stockholm. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Bertil Duroj and Arne Åkermark. It was entered into the 1959 Cannes Film Festival. Synopsis In Stockholm, Marcus a banker falls in love with the ballet dancer Maj who performs in the opera and gets himself a job working there. However she is in love with the opera's star singer Osvald Berg and tries to get Marcus to help her gain his interest. Göran Gentele
Göran Gentele (29 September 1917 – 18 July 1972) was a Swedish actor, director, and opera manager. He was briefly the general manager of the Metropolitan Opera in New York City in 1972. Biography Born in Stockholm, Gentele studied from 1944 until 1946 at the Royal Dramatic Training Academy, beginning a brief career as a film actor not long afterwards. He soon turned to directing, working for a time at the Royal Dramatic Theatre and then at the Royal Swedish Opera, where his more notable productions included Gian Carlo Menotti's ''The Consul'' and Karl-Birger Blomdahl's ''Aniara''. He became director of the company in 1963. He also directed films during approximately the same period (1947 to 1969), making at least 15 feature films and television movies. Bengt Gunnar Eklund (18 January 1925 – 19 January 1998) was a Swedish actor. He is well known as Nisse Granqvist in the 1964 TV series ''Vi på Saltkråkan''. Elsa Margareta "Meg" Westergren (born 16 May 1932) is a Swedish actress from Nockeby, Bromma, in Stockholm. Her parents were both actors and she made her acting debut in the 1951 film ''Living on 'Hope'''.
