Mischief Makers (TV Series)
''Mischief Makers'' was a children's television series created by National Telepix that debuted on television syndication in 1960. The fifteen-minute series consisted of shortened '' Our Gang'' silent shorts that were originally released through Pathé, as well as various shorts from rival series including ''Mickey McGuire'', '' Buster Brown'', and others. Films from Hal Roach's all animal series the Dippy Doo Dads were also occasionally shown. The series ended production in 1961, but continued to be aired by certain local television stations well into the 1970s, and even during the 80's in Latin America. Overview The series mainly featured shorts from Hal Roach's '' Our Gang'' series, but shorts from other series were also sometimes shown. Each episode ran about fifteen minutes, with the featured short only being about twelve minutes in length (the shorts originally ran about twenty minutes long). Jackie Condon
John Michael Condon (March 25, 1918 – October 13, 1977) credited as Jackie Condon was an American child actor who was a regular in the '' Our Gang'' short series as an original cast member from 1922 until 1929, during the Hal Roach produced Pathé silent era. Biography Condon was born in March 1918 in Los Angeles, California. In 1919, he began his acting career by appearing in the film ''Jinx''. By 1922, he had appeared in many silent films and later starred in the '' Our Gang'' comedies as "Jackie". When he joined the original Our Gang ensemble in 1921, Condon was a little, tag-along toddler who, although often put off by the older children, was anxious to participate in the gang's adventures. As he grew older, Condon's character developed into a more All American type. Condon left the series in 1928, after appearing in all 66 Pathé silent comedies and 12 of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer silent comedies. ''The Sun Down Limited'' is a 1924 American short silent comedy film directed by Robert F. McGowan. It was the 30th ''Our Gang'' short subject released. The title is a play on the Southern Pacific Railroad's ''Sunset Limited'' train service. ''The Sun Down Limited'' was remade in 1929 during the sound era as ''Railroadin'''. Plot The gang play around the railyard until Joe and Mickey get them kicked out for taking an engine for a joyride. The kids try to play with Toughy and his train but are rebuked, so they build their own railroad instead. When the girls leave Toughy for the gang's railroad, a jealous Toughy runs the gangs train off the tracks and into the city streets. ''The Mysterious Mystery!'' is a 1924 short silent comedy film directed by Robert F. McGowan. It was the 33rd '' Our Gang'' short subject released. Plot Little Adelbert, son of a wealthy family, is kidnapped and held for ransom. The gang, led by Mickey, are quickly on the case. Mistaking Detective Jinks as a "suspeck," the gang captures him and notifies the police, who recognize the detective and release him. One of the kidnappers gives the gang a dollar to deliver a package to Mr. Wallingford: A ransom note attached to a pigeon. The note tells the Wallingfords to attach five $1,000 bills to the pigeon, but the kids accidentally let the pigeon escape. Riding with Mr. Wallingford, the gang goes to an airfield and hides from Det. Jinks in a plane that Mr. Wallingford hires to follow the pigeon.
