Mirror Lake is an unincorporated community in the town of Tuftonboro in Carroll County, New Hampshire. It is located along the shore of Mirror Lake in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The village is located in the southern part of the town of Tuftonboro, and is adjacent to Lake Winnipesaukee as well as Mirror Lake. New Hampshire Route 109 (Governor Wentworth Highway) passes through the village, connecting Wolfeboro to the east and Melvin Village and Moultonborough to the west. Mirror Lake has a ZIP code of 03853 and is one of three ZIP code areas that cover the town of Tuftonboro, the other two being Melvin Village and Center Tuftonboro. Lakes Region (New Hampshire)
The Lakes Region of New Hampshire is located in the east-central part of the state, south of the White Mountains Region and extending to the Maine border. It is named for the numerous lakes in the region, the largest of which are Lake Winnipesaukee, Lake Winnisquam, Squam Lake, and Newfound Lake. Moultonborough is a town in Carroll County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 4,918 at the 2020 census, up from 4,044 at the 2010 census. Moultonborough is bounded in large part by Lake Winnipesaukee in the southwest and to a lesser extent by Squam Lake in the northwest corner. The town includes the census-designated place of Suissevale and the community of Lees Mill. History The first European settlers were grantees from Hampton, New Hampshire, among whom were at least sixteen Moultons, giving the town its name. Melvin Village is a census-designated place (CDP) within the town of Tuftonboro in Carroll County, New Hampshire, United States. Its population at the 2020 census was 273. The village is a summer vacation spot on Melvin Bay of Lake Winnipesaukee. Geography Melvin Village is in the western part of the town of Tuftonboro, where the Melvin River enters Lake Winnipesaukee. Running through the center is New Hampshire Route 109, which leads southeast to Wolfeboro and northwest to Moultonborough. The village is little changed over the last century. Most of the buildings remain and there are few new ones. As recently as 1950, there were two general stores and two gas stations, all of which are now gone. Wolfeboro is a town in Carroll County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 6,416 at the 2020 census. A resort area situated beside Lake Winnipesaukee, Wolfeboro includes the village of Wolfeboro Falls. History The town was granted by colonial Governor Benning Wentworth in 1759 to four young men of Portsmouth, and named "Wolfeborough" in honor of English General James Wolfe, who had been victorious at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759 during the French and Indian War.
