Mirandolina (film)
''La locandiera'' (also known as ''Mirandolina'') is a 1980 Italian comedy film directed by Paolo Cavara, based on the Carlo Goldoni's three-act comedy ''The Mistress of the Inn''. Plot Mirandolina is famed for her beauty and runs an inn. From the outset, the count of Alba Fiorita and the marquis of Forlimpopoli are madly in love with her. The two nobles give her extravagant gifts, trying to impress and marry her. The cunning Mirandolina accepts their money and jewels without giving them her hand. A third man arrives on the scene: the Cavaliere di Ripafratta. He is extremely misogynistic and thinks that women bring only trouble to men. Mirandolina, who had never encountered a man like this, is deeply offended and takes it upon herself to teach him a lesson. She goes out of her way to make him fall in love with her. Paolo Cavara
Paolo Cavara (4 July 1926 – 7 August 1982) was an Italian screenwriter and film director. He is best known for collaborating with Gualtiero Jacopetti and Franco E. Prosperi on the 1962 mondo film ''Mondo Cane'', and for directing the fiction film ''The Wild Eye'' (1967) and two giallo films, ''Black Belly of the Tarantula'' (1971) and ''Plot of Fear'' (1976). Biography During the 1950s, he studied architecture at the University of Florence, after which he produced documentaries for scientific voyages of exploration, and emerged as a pioneer of underwater cinematography (one of these voyages was the important 1951 expedition to Ceylon along with Franco Prosperi documented by local news, that anticipated Folco Quilici’s ''Sixth Continent'' experience). Camillo Migliori, best known as Camillo Milli (1 August 1929 – 20 January 2022) was an Italian stage, film and television actor. Life and career Born in Milan, Milli formed under Giorgio Strehler at the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, where he debuted in 1951 and where he was active until 1953. In the 1960s and in the 1970s he worked intensively with director Luigi Squarzina and at the Teatro Stabile in Genoa, specializing in the Carlo Goldoni repertoire. Milli was also active as a character actor in films, mainly cast in humorous roles, often as a sidekick of Paolo Villaggio. Gianni Cavina (9 December 1940 – 26 March 2022) was an Italian film actor. He appeared in more than 40 films from 1968 to 2022. Born in Bologna, Cavina trained as a stage actor at the Teatro Stabile di Bologna, under the direction of Franco Parenti.
