Miramare Castle
Miramare Castle ( it, Castello di Miramare; es, Castillo de Miramar; german: Schloss Miramar; sl, Grad Miramar) is a 19th-century castle direct on the Gulf of Trieste between Barcola and Grignano in Trieste, northeastern Italy. It was built from 1856 to 1860 for Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian and his wife, Charlotte of Belgium, later Emperor Maximilian I and Empress Carlota of Mexico, based on a design by Carl Junker. The castle's grounds include an extensive cliff and seashore park of designed by the archduke. The grounds were completely re-landscaped to feature numerous tropical species of trees and plants. Barcola
Barcola is a maritime neighbourhood of Trieste, Italy. It is a popular tourist place with beaches and long promenades, near the Habsburg-established Miramare Castle. Barcola is highly valued for the high quality of life and the free access to the sea. The long and partly shady 5 km long waterfront of Barcola serves as a recreation area and city bathing beach of Trieste and is connected to the city center, Miramare, Sistiana but also partly to Grado by bus lines and regular shipping services. Barcola has several small ports, especially Porticciolo di Barcola, where local professional fishermen also work and liner shipping operates. Miramare Railway Station
Miramare railway station ( it, Stazione di Miramare) is a railway station in Miramare, a suburb of Trieste, in the autonomous region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, northeastern Italy. The station was constructed in 1857 on a line which at the time connected Vienna with Trieste. The purpose of the new station was mainly to serve the Miramare Castle, newly constructed residence of the Archduke Maximilian. Federico Fellini International Airport ( it, Aeroporto Internazionale di Rimini e San Marino 'Federico Fellini'; ), formerly ''Rimini Miramare Airport'', is an international airport located at Miramare, southeast of Rimini, Italy. The Royal Miramare Theatre was a theatre located at Martyrs' Square (formerly Green Square) built in 1925 in Tripoli, Libya. It was located next to the Red Castle. Julius Fučík (composer)
Julius Ernest Wilhelm Fučík (; 18 July 1872 – 25 September 1916) was a Czech composer and conductor of military bands. He became a prolific composer, with over 400 marches, polkas, and waltzes to his name. As most of his works were for military bands, he is sometimes known as the "Bohemian Sousa". Today his marches are still played as patriotic music in the Czech Republic. His worldwide reputation rests primarily on two works: "The Florentiner March", popular throughout much of Europe, and the "Entrance of the Gladiators" (''Vjezd gladiátorů''), which is widely recognized, often under the title "Thunder and Blazes", as one of the most popular theme tunes for circus clowns. Fučík was the brother of opera singer and bass player Karel Fučík and uncle of the journalist Julius Fučík, who was executed by the Nazis.
