Minot SkyRockets
The Minot SkyRockets were a team in the Continental Basketball Association. They played their home games at the Minot Municipal Auditorium. The team began play in 2005 as the San Jose Skyrockets of the American Basketball Association (2000–present), American Basketball Association. The team had a very successful first season, finishing first in the Ron Boone division with a 29-5 record. The team advanced to the semifinals of the Great Eight Tournament, ABA Great Eight, losing to the Rochester Razorsharks, 106-103. At the end of the season, the team announced they were joining the Continental Basketball Association and relocating to Minot, North Dakota. American Basketball Association (2000–present)
The American Basketball Association (ABA) is an American semi-professional men's basketball minor league that was founded in 1999. The ABA has teams based in the United States and previously had international teams based in Canada and Mexico. In the past, there were traveling teams from countries such as Australia and Japan who played in the ABA. Additionally, there were players from other countries that were on a U.S. team to showcase other talented athletes in the country. The current ABA bears no relation to the original American Basketball Association (1967–1976) that was considered a major league, and merged with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in 1976. Pele Paelay
Pele Paelay (born June 15, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player. Although he was born in Liberia, he grew up in the state of Maryland before playing at Coastal Carolina University from 2002 to 2006. Paelay was named the Big South Conference Player of the Year in his junior season in 2004–05. Upon graduation in 2006, he began his professional career which has taken him to numerous countries abroad. Paelay is now the assistant coach for the girls varsity basketball team at the Steward School. High school Paelay attended Magruder High School in Derwood, Maryland. He graduated in 2002 after starring in both basketball and soccer. On the pitch, Paelay was named the Washington, D.C. Ronnie Fields (born February 28, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player. High school Born and raised in Chicago, Fields played at Farragut Academy in Chicago from 1992–1996 and was a teammate of Kevin Garnett during the 1994 season. Mark M. Magsumbol is a Filipino retired basketball player. Magsumbol has played in the Philippine Basketball Association, the Philippine Basketball League, National Basketball Conference, and for the American Basketball Association (ABA) team San Jose Skyrockets. Anwar Ferguson (born October 10, 1981) is a Bahamian former professional basketball player. Early life and college career Ferguson was born in Exuma, Bahamas, and his father, Clement, is a reverend. He moved the United States during his youth and attended LN Coakley High School in Exuma, from which he graduated in 1999. In basketball, he led the team in rebounds and blocked shots and was named to the conference's all-defensive team. Ferguson then enrolled at Lee College, a community college located in Baytown, Texas. During his freshman season he averaged 1.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game, but he did record a 10-block game in the playoffs. Edward Richard Nelson (born March 18, 1982) is an American professional basketball player and former ACC Rookie of the Year. A 2004 NCAA Champion with Connecticut, he retired from professional basketball in 2015. Ryan Kenwood Hollins (born October 10, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player who is a color commentator for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. He was a center who was a journeyman in the NBA, playing for nine teams in 10 seasons. He played briefly in Europe before ending his career.
