"Minor Earth Major Sky" is a song by Norwegian band A-ha, released as the second single from their sixth studio album of the same name (2000). The single was serviced to European radio stations around 5 June 2000 and was released commercially in Norway and Germany on 10 July. Music video The music video for "Minor Earth Major Sky" was directed by Philipp Stölzl and filmed in an abandoned mine near Pilsen, Czech Republic. In the video, the three band members portray astronauts in a moon landing. Morten Harket goes off by himself, leaving the others waiting for him; when he returns, he finds they've already launched the lunar module without him. The theme of the video is based on reality; Paul and Magne often complained that Morten would be late to every meeting and concert and interview. Lunar Module
The Apollo Lunar Module (LM ), originally designated the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM), was the lunar lander spacecraft that was flown between lunar orbit and the Moon's surface during the United States' Apollo program. It was the first crewed spacecraft to operate exclusively in the airless vacuum of space, and remains the only crewed vehicle to land anywhere beyond Earth. Structurally and aerodynamically incapable of flight through Earth's atmosphere, the two-stage lunar module was ferried to lunar orbit attached to the Apollo command and service module (CSM), about twice its mass. Ian Pooley
Ian Pooley (born Ian Pinnekamp in 1973) is a German record producer and DJ. While incorporating samples of various musical genres, Pooley's creations are usually classified as house or tech house with Brazilian influence. Biography Pooley's music career began in 1993. Fascinated by producers in Chicago and Detroit, he brought his first machines and immediately started writing house and techno music, which kickstarted a multi-decade-spanning career playing to hugely diverse audiences. In 1998, Pooley made his sole appearance on the prestigious BBC Radio One Essential Mix, which featured tracks by Slam, Jeff Mills and his own productions. ''Apollo 13'' is a 1995 American space docudrama film directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Ed Harris, and Gary Sinise. ''Minor Earth Major Sky'' (stylised as ''minor earth | major sky'') is the sixth studio album by Norwegian band A-ha, released on 14 April 2000 by WEA. Background and release Following the release of A-ha's fifth studio album, '' Memorial Beach'' (1993), the band decided to go on a hiatus. In 1998, the band was invited to perform at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. Paul Waaktaar-Savoy had written "Summer Moved On" especially for this performance. They also performed "The Sun Always Shines on T.V.". This performance was A-ha's comeback into the world of music and the band decided to return to the studio. Almost the entire album was remixed by producer Niven Garland at the record company's insistence to make it more radio-friendly for the band's German market. Philipp Stölzl
Philipp Stölzl (born 1967 in Munich) is a German director. He began to direct music videos in the mid-1990s and directed his first feature film in 2002. Life and career Philipp Stölzl was trained as a set and costume designer at the Münchner Kammerspielen where he graduated in 1988. He worked in these professions in German theatres and began to work for films in 1996. He debuted as director in 1998 with the music video for Rammstein's "Du riechst so gut". He has continued to direct videos for artists such as Mick Jagger, Marius Müller-Westernhagen, Madonna, and Garbage's Bond theme "The World Is Not Enough". He has also directed commercials. Velvet (Savoy Song)
"Velvet" is a song by Savoy, a band fronted by A-ha's guitarist Paul Waaktaar-Savoy, from their debut studio album, ''Mary Is Coming'' (1996). Savoy's version was released as a single in the United States, but received minimal airplay. A-ha version A-ha's version of "Velvet" replaced Savoy's guitars with sitars. Their version, which served as the third single from '' Minor Earth Major Sky'', was released to radio stations in Germany (and in other European countries such as Sweden, Switzerland and the Netherlands) in September 2000 and was released to German record stores on 6 November (one week later in other parts of Europe). Originally, "The Sun Never Shone That Day" was to be released in Norway instead of "Velvet", but it was later decided that "Velvet" would also be released in Norway.
