Big Mink Lake
Big Mink Lake is a fresh water lake in the St. Lawrence River drainage basin in Hastings Highlands, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada. It is about west of the community of Lake St. Peter on Highway 127 and northwest of Bancroft. Hydrology Big Mink Lake is a long narrow lake punctuated by several narrows and with a forked north end. Card Bay forms the northwest arm of the fork, and the three narrows from north to south are First Narrows, Red Pine Narrows and Crooked Narrows. The lake is about long and wide and lies at an elevation of . The primary inflow is Mink Creek from Upper Mink Lakes at the northeast. There are seven unnamed creeks as secondary inflows: at the northeast, east from Sud Lake, southeast, south, southwest, west, and northwest. The primary outflow, controlled by the Mink Lake Dam, is also Mink Creek, southwest to Moffat Pond, which eventually flows via the York River, Madawaska River and Ottawa River to the St. Lawrence River. Little Mink Lake (Lennox And Addington County)
Little Mink Lake is a lake in the Moira River and Lake Ontario drainage basins in Addington Highlands, Lennox and Addington County in Ontario, Canada. A Hydro One transmission line crosses over the west end of the lake. The lake is about long and wide and lies at an elevation of about northeast of the community of Gunter and northwest of the community of Cloyne. There are two unnamed creek inflows at the east, and one unnamed creek primary outflow, at the west, towards Little Merrill Lake. Its waters flow via Merrill Creek, Partridge Creek, the Skootamatta River and the Moira River into the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario at Belleville. Mink Lake (Lane County, Oregon)
Mink Lake is the second-largest wilderness lake in the US state of Oregon. Mink Lake lies at about above sea level on a Cascade Range lava plateau in the Three Sisters Wilderness in eastern Lane County. One of many lakes in the Mink Lake Basin, it covers . Hiking trails enter the Mink Lake Basin, at the headwaters of the South Fork McKenzie River, from many directions. The Pacific Crest Trail runs roughly north–south about east of the lake. Natural campsites abound in the area, but in warm weather mosquitoes can be a problem. So few chemicals and nutrients enter this lake that it is classified as ultraoligotrophic, and it is thought to be among the most pristine lakes in Oregon. Mink Lake (Teton County, Wyoming)
There are 44 named and countless unnamed lakes in Grand Teton National Park. The largest of these is Jackson Lake, a natural glacial lake that has been enlarged with the construction of the Jackson Lake Dam. The lakes range in size as well as ease of access. In addition to mountain tarns, there are several large peidmont lakes. Nearly all the lakes are glacial in origin, formed by glacial action that carved out the valleys and left moraine behind that acted as dams to lock in water. The lakes exist in the near pristine wilderness environment of the park, and recreational use, boating and fishing varies by lake. Elevation of the region classes these as alpine lakes, with Jackson lake being the largest alpine lake in the United States.
