Ministry Of Works And Transport (Uganda)
The Ministry of Works and Transport is a Cabinet level government ministry of Uganda, that is mandated to plan, develop and maintain an economic, efficient and effective transport infrastructure, and transport services by road, rail, water, and air. The ministry is also mandated to manage public works including government structures and promote standards in the construction industry. The ministry is headed by a Cabinet Minister. The current Minister of Works and Transport is Katumba Wamala. Government Of Uganda
Uganda is a presidential republic in which the President of Uganda is the head of state and the prime minister is the head of government business. There is a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government. Legislative power is given to both the government and the National Assembly. Njeru
Njeru is a town in Buikwe District, in the Central Region of Uganda. It is the largest town in the district. It is mainly a residential town. Transport In Uganda
Transport in Uganda refers to the transportation structure in Uganda. The country has an extensive network of paved and unpaved roads. Roadways As of 2017, according to the Uganda Ministry of Works and Transport, Uganda had about of roads, with approximately (4 percent) paved. Most paved roads radiate from Kampala, the country's capital and largest city. International highways The Lagos-Mombasa Highway, part of the Trans-Africa Highway and aiming to link East Africa and West Africa, passes through Uganda. This is complete only eastwards from the Uganda– DR Congo border to Mombasa, linking the African Great Lakes region to the sea. In East Africa, this roadway is part of the Northern Corridor. John Nasasira
John Nwoono Nasasira is a Ugandan engineer and politician. He was most recently the Minister of Information and Communication Technology in the Cabinet of Uganda, but resigned as an MP in August 2016, citing "ill health." He was appointed to that position on 23 May 2013, replacing Ruhakana Rugunda. Before that, from 27 May 2011 until 23 May 2013, he served as the Chief Government Whip. Abraham James Byandala is a Ugandan engineer and politician. He is the former Minister for Works and Transportation in the Ugandan Cabinet. He was appointed to that position on 27 May 2011. He replaced John Nasasira, who was appointed Government Chief Whip. Byandala also serves as the elected Member of Parliament for Katikamu County North, in Luweero District. John Byabagambi (born 8 May 1958) is a Ugandan engineer and politician. He was the Cabinet Minister for Karamoja Affairs, in the Cabinet of Uganda. He was appointed to that position on 6 June 2016, and was replaced by Mary Goretti Kitutu on 8 June 2021. He previously served as Minister of Works and Transport between March 2015 and June 2016, replacing Abraham Byandala who was appointed Minister Without Portfolio. Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) is the legal entity, established by the Ugandan Parliament, that is responsible for the operations of the capital city of Kampala in Uganda. Rift Valley Railways
Rift Valley Railways (RVR) was a consortium established to manage the parastatal railways of Kenya and Uganda. The consortium won the bid for private management of the century-old Uganda Railway in 2005. The Kenya-Uganda railway had previously been run by the East African Railways and Harbours Corporation over the period 1948–77.
