Ministry Of Ports (Somalia)
The Ministry of Ports is a ministry responsible for overseeing marine transport and management of ports in Somalia. The newly prime minister of Somalia Hamza Abdi Barre appointed his cabinets which includes by former minister of justice Abdullahi Ahmed Jama (ilka jiir) as Ministry of Ports and replaced former Maryan Aweys Jama. In 2020, Somalia was becoming ready to accede to the list of port States after the country had completed the development of a Somali shipping code after six years. The process was supported by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), which worked with the ministry on technical training and legal functions. Once passed by the parliament, the code will allow Somalia "to discharge its responsibilities as flag, port and coastal state." General Abdullahi Ahmed Jama Ilkajir ( so, Cabdulaahii Axmed Jamac Ilkajir, ar, ุนุจุฏ ุงู„ู„ู‡ ุฃุญู…ุฏ ุฌุงู…ุน) is a Somali politician, who was Puntland's Interior Minister from January 2009 to February 2014. He is the former Minister of Education of Somalia, having been appointed to the position on 12 January 2015 by the former Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke. However, he only served 2 weeks when on 17 January 2015, Prime Minister Sharmarke dissolved his newly nominated cabinet due to vehement opposition by legislators, who rejected the reappointment of certain former ministers. On 27 January 2015, Sharmarke appointed a new, smaller 20 minister cabinet of which Abdullahi Ahmed Jama was replaced by Khadra Bashir Ali. Hamza Abdi Barre ( so, Xamse Cabdi Barre, ar, ุญู…ุฒุฉ ุนุจุฏ ุจุฑูŠ) is a Somali politician currently serving as the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia. He was nominated on 15 June 2022, by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and he was endorsed by parliament on June 25, 2022 (229 in favour, 7 opposed, 1 abstention).
