Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs ( am, የሠራተኛና ማህበራዊ ጉዳይ ሚኒስቴር; established in 1957) is a ministry of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia since 1957. Its name changed time to time following the systems of ruling government. Until the ministry got its current name in 1977, it has a name called Ministry of Community Development, and Ministry of Community Development and Social Affairs respectively. All the name of ministry had given by the proclamation. History Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs is established in 1957 by the proclamation number 15 as a Ministry of Community Development during the reign-ship of Haile Selassie, and this name stayed for nearly a decade and renamed to the Ministry of Community Development and Social Affairs in 1966 by proclamation number 46. Ergoge Tesfaye (, born 22 October 1978) is an Ethiopian politician who, , is the current Minister of Women and Social Affairs. She was previously the Ministry of Labour and Skills Development from October 2018 to 6 October 2021. Early life Ergoge was born in Hosaena, Hadiya, Ethiopia and raised in Addis Ababa, and Hosaena. She was born to a teacher family, and attended her primary school in her home town, but left her home town when she was a second grader and resumed her education in capital of Ethiopia, Addis Abeba. Haile Selassie I ( gez, ቀዳማዊ ኀይለ ሥላሴ, Qädamawi Häylä Səllasé, ; born Tafari Makonnen; 23 July 189227 August 1975) was Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974. Girma Wolde-Giorgis (; 28 December 1924 – 15 December 2018) was an Ethiopian politician who was the president of Ethiopia from 2001 to 2013. Hirut Woldemariam (; born 24 October 1975) is an Ethiopian writer, teacher, politician and former minister of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (Ethiopia), Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs. Abiy Ahmed Ali ( om, Abiyi Ahmed Alii; am, አብይ አሕመድ ዐሊ; born 15 August 1976) is an Ethiopian politician who has been the 4th prime minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia since 2 April 2018. Sahle-Work Zewde (, born 21 February 1950) is an Ethiopian politician and diplomat who is the president of Ethiopia since 2018, being the first woman to hold the office.
