Politics Of Jordan
The politics of Jordan takes place in a framework of a parliamentary monarchy, whereby the Prime Minister of Jordan is head of government, and of a multi-party system. Jordan is a constitutional monarchy based on the constitution promulgated on January 8, 1952. The king exercises his power through the government he appoints which is responsible before the Parliament. In contrast to most parliamentary monarchies, the monarchy of Jordan is not ceremonial, with the King having significant influence over the affairs of the country. Hassan Daoud
Hassan Daoud (Arabic: حسن داوود) (born 1950) is a Lebanese writer and journalist. Originally from the village of Noumairieh in southern Lebanon, he moved to Beirut as a child with his family. He studied Arabic literature at university. During the Lebanese civil war that broke out in 1975, he worked as a journalist, a profession he has pursued ever since. He served as a correspondent for ''al-Hayat'' for 11 years. At present he edits ''Nawafez'', the cultural supplement of the Beiruti newspaper '' al-Mustaqbal''. Daoud has published eight novels and two volumes of short stories. As of 2011, five of the novels have been translated into English. Daoud has also been translated into French and German (by Hartmut Faehndrich). His work has appeared in Banipal magazine. A justice ministry, ministry of justice, or department of justice is a ministry or other government agency in charge of the administration of justice. The ministry or department is often headed by a minister of justice (minister for justice in a very few countries) or a secretary of justice. Bassam Talhouni
Bassam Talhouni ( ar, بسام التلهوني; born 1964) is a Jordanian lawyer, academic and politician. He served as industry minister. Between August 2013 and September 2016 he was minister of justice. Talhouni served as minister of justice in Bisher Al-Khasawneh's cabinet. He resigned with Samir Mobeideen on 28 February 2021 due to breaking lockdown in the COVID-19 pandemic in Jordan. Early life and education Talhouni was born in Amman in 1964. He received a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in law from the University of Jordan. He also holds a PhD in law from the University of Edinburgh which he obtained in 1997. Career Talhouni registered at the Jordan Bar Association in 1988 and owns a law firm in Amman. Ghaleb Zu'bi
Ghaleb Zu'bi (born 1943) is a Jordanian lawyer and politician who served in different post at the various cabinets of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Zu'bi was appointed minister of interior by Prime Minister Hani Al-Mulki on 15 January 2017 and served in the post until 25 February 2018. Early life and education Zu'bi was born in Salt in 1943. He hails from one of the Jordan’s largest tribes in Salt city. He obtained a bachelor's degree in law from Damascus University in 1967. Khalifah Suleiman
Khalifah Khaled Suleiman (born 1953) is a Jordanian jurist and politician who briefly served as justice minister from May to October 2012. Early life and education Suleiman was born in 1953. He obtained a master's degree in law from the University of Jordan. Career Suleiman worked at different positions in the Jordanian judiciary system beginning in 1981. His previous posts include vice president of the cassation court and general prosecutor. He was appointed justice minister to the cabinet headed by Fayez Tarawneh on 2 May 2012. Ibrahim Jazi
Ibrahim Mashhour Al Jazi (born 1966) is a Jordanian politician who serves as Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs. He was appointed as minister on 12 October 2020. Jazi also served as Minister of State for Legal Affairs and as Minister of Justice in 2011 and in 2012. Hussein Mjalli
Hussein Mjalli (1937 – 12 October 2014) was a Jordanian politician and lawyer. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1989 until 1993. He served as President of the Jordanian Bar Association for several terms. After the capture of Saddam Hussein in Iraq, he joined his defence team, while still President of the Jordanian Bar Association. In 2011 he joined the government of Prime Minister Marouf al-Bakhit as Justice Minister. He resigned the same year. Anastas Hanania
Anastas Hanania (1903 – 1995) was a Palestinian-Jordanian lawyer, judge, official and diplomat. Hanania was educated at the Syrian Protestant College in Beirut (now the AUB) and the Law College in Jerusalem. He entered the world of Palestinian politics in the late 1930s and 1940s.
