The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting ( bn, তথ্য ও সম্প্রচার মন্ত্রণালয়) (abbreviated as MoIB) is a branch of the Government of Bangladesh and is the apex body for formulation and administration of the rules and regulations and laws relating to information, broadcasting, the press and films in Bangladesh. It is responsible for releasing government information, media galleries, public domain and government unclassified non-scientific data to the public and international communities. The Ministry is responsible for all the press and broadcasting arm of the Bangladesh Government. The Bangladesh Film Censor Board is the other important body under this ministry being responsible for the regulation of motion pictures shown in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust
The Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust () is a Bangladesh government owned trust that is responsible for the welfare of journalists in Bangladesh. The trustee board of the trust is chaired by the Minister of Information. History The bill to form the trust was approved by the Cabinet of Bangladesh on 4 November 2013. The Parliament of Bangladesh passed on 1 July 2014. The Bangladesh Journalists Welfare Trust was established in 2014 with an initial fund of 50 million taka from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Private media houses donated further funds. On 4 September 2016, Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Media Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, handed over checks to 27 journalists from the trust at Chittagong Press Club. Bangladesh Film Censor Board is a regulatory agency that is responsible for the censorship of movies and is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. History The censor board was set up in 1977 following the framing of Bangladesh Censorship of Film Rules. Bangladesh Film Development Corporation or BFDC, is a government owned and operated corporation in Tejgaon, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Nuzhat Yeasmin is the managing director of the corporation. Bangladesh Betar ( bn, বাংলাদেশ বেতার; ), or BB is the state-owned radio broadcaster of Bangladesh, initially established as the Dhaka station of All India Radio in 1939. It was later made part of Radio Pakistan. After the independence of the country in 1971, Radio Pakistan ceased transmissions there and the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra was renamed to Bangladesh Betar, which took full control of all radio stations in the country at the time.
