The Ministry of Industry and Mines () was a department of the Government of Albania responsible for the proposal and execution of government policies on the country's industry and the promotion and defence of industrial property. Currently, the duties of this department are exercised by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy. History From the creation of the Albanian state in 1912, this department was included under the Ministry of Economy and did not enjoy any special importance because the Albanian industry at that time was very underdeveloped. However, it gained importance during the period of the second Albanian kingdom under King Zog I, when investments with foreign capital, especially Italian ones, began to increase in the oil industry. Council Of Ministers (Albania)
The Council of Ministers () is the executive branch that constitutes the Government of Albania. The Council is led by the Prime Minister of Albania. The prime minister is nominated by the President from among those candidates, who enjoy majority support in the Parliament; the candidate is then chosen by the Parliament. In the absence of the prime minister, the Deputy Prime Minister takes over his functions. There are 19 other government members, serving as deputy prime ministers, government ministers or both; they are chosen by the prime minister and confirmed by the Parliament. As of April 2017, after a reshuffle, 50% of the cabinet ministers are women. The Parliament of Albania must give final approval of the composition of the cabinet. Rita Marko
Rita Marko (17 February 1920 – 15 June 2018) was an Albanian political figure of Aromanian ethnicity who served in a number of positions in Albania during its socialist period. Biography Marko was born in Korçë as the son of Eastern Orthodox ethnic Aromanian parents and attended grammar school. In 1936 he partook in a strike of petroleum workers organized by the ''Puna'' (''Work'') trade union in the area, which was associated with the Korçë Communist Group. He joined the resistance forces after the Italian invasion of Albania in 1939 and joined the Communist Party of Albania (from 1948 the Party of Labour of Albania) in 1942. Gheg (also spelled Geg; Gheg Albanian: ''gegnishtja'', Standard sq, gegërishtja) is one of the two major varieties of Albanian, the other being Tosk. The geographic dividing line between the two varieties is the Shkumbin River, which winds its way through central Albania. Hajredin Çeliku (born May 4th 1927 - died June 2005) was a former Albanian politician of the Albanian Party of Labour. He was a member of the Albanian Parliament, Politburo of the Party of Labour of Albania, and served as member of the Cabinet of Albania. Life Çeliku was born in Peshkopi, Diber District in the Albanian Republic on 4 May 1927. During World War II he was active in the Young Communist Movement; after the war became member of Albanian Worker Party in 1947. Llambi Gegprifti (born 14 February 1942, in Pogradec) is a former Albanian politician and mayor of Tirana (precisely Chairman of the Executive Committee of the People's Council of Tirana District) from 1986 through 1987 and 1989 through 1990. Prokop Murra (24 November 1921 – 9 September 2005) was an Albanian politician of the Albanian Party of Labour (PPSh). Early life Murra was born on 24 November 1921 in Tirana, and studied economics. He joined the Albanian Communist Party in 1943 and fought during World War II as a partisan of the National Liberation Movement. He initially worked as a functionary of the party in the economic sector, and petroleum industry. In 1956 he became member of the Central Committee of the Party. Xhafer Spahiu
Xhafer Spahiu (June 5, 1923 – May 19, 1999) was a former Albanian politician of the Albanian Party of Labour (PPSh). He was the only Kosovar Albanian of the higher ranks of the Communist Albania leadership after 1948. Life Spahiu was born in Gjakova, Kosova, at that time part of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. He was one of the many communist Kosovo Albanians who came from the same town, such as Emin Duraku, Fadil Hoxha, Sadik Stavaleci, Elham Nimani, etc. During World War II he was part of the guerrilla movement in Albania in charge of the information and communications to the public. Pali Miska
Pali Miska (19 May 1931 – September 2009) was an Albanian politician of the Communist Era. He served as Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania from 22 November 1982 to 19 February 1987. Miska was first as a party functionary in Fushë Arrëz, the largest Albanian state enterprise for timber production. In 1970, he was elected first-deputy of the People's Assembly (Alb: ''Kuvendi Popullor''), and served as member from the seventh to the end of the eleventh legislative term until 1991. Koço Theodhosi
Koço Theodhosi (21 May 1913 in Korçë – 31 May 1977) was an Albanian politician of the Albanian Party of Labour (PPSh). Biography Theodhosi finished the French Lyceum of Korça, and later studied chemistry at the University of Lyon, and at the University of Liège. During his studies he got into contact with French-speaking anti-fascist student group of the French Communist Party (PCF). Upon his return to Albania, he became involved in the anti-fascist movement. In 1936 he joined the Spanish Civil War as part of the international brigades.
