Ministry Of Health (Palestine)
The Ministry of Health of the State of Palestine is a government agency in the State of Palestine. The ministry is controlled by the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. After Hamas' takeover of Gaza in 2007, Hamas governments have appointed alternate health ministers for the Gaza Strip. The ministry is one of Palestine's four major healthcare providers, alongside the Military Medical Services, United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNWRA), NGOs, and the private sector. It operated 27 of Palestine's secondary and tertiary hospitals and 61% of total hospital beds. As of 2023, the Minister of Health is Dr. Mai al-Kaila. Palestine ( ar, فلسطين, Filasṭīn), Legal status of the State of Palestine, officially the State of Palestine ( ar, دولة فلسطين, Dawlat Filasṭīn, label=none), is a state (polity), state located in Western Asia. Officially governed by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), it claims the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip as its territory, though the entirety of that territory has been Israeli-occupied territories, occupied by Israel since the 1967 Six-Day War. As a result of the Oslo Accords of 1993–1995, the West Bank is currently divided into 165 Palestinian enclaves that are under partial Palestinian National Authority (PNA) rule; the remainder, including 200 Israeli settlement, Israeli settlements, is under Area C (West Bank), full Israeli control.
