The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is the ministry responsible for handling the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis' external relations and its diplomatic missions abroad. Coat Of Arms Of Saint Kitts And Nevis
The coat of arms of Saint Kitts and Nevis was adopted in 1983 and possesses the motto "''Country Above Self''". The previous coat of arms, adopted in 1967 by the colony of Saint Christopher-Nevis-Anguilla, was nearly identical, except for coloration and the motto "''Unity in Trinity''". The centre of the coat of arms is dominated by a shield at the base in which there is a lighter in full sail. The lighter is one of the traditional means of transportation. A red chevron is highlighted by two poinciana flowers. At the top of the shield is a Carib's head, flanked by a fleur-de-lis and a rose. The Caribs were the early inhabitants of the islands, and the fleur-de-lis and rose signify the islands' English and French influences. Denzil Douglas
Denzil Llewellyn Douglas (born 14 January 1953) is a Saint Kittitian and Nevisian politician and the longest-serving prime minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, in office from 1995 to 2015. Subsequently he has been Leader of the Opposition. He was the leader of the Saint Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) from 1989 to 2021. Barbados is an island country in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies, in the Caribbean region of the Americas, and the most easterly of the Caribbean Islands. Kennedy Simmonds
Sir Kennedy Alphonse Simmonds, KCMG (born 12 April 1936), is a Saint Kittitian and Nevisian politician who served as the first prime minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis from 1983 to 1995. Life and career Simmonds was born in Basseterre on 12 April 1936. He graduated as a physician from the University of the West Indies in 1962. He married Mary Matthew, and they had five children. Simmonds was a founding member of the People's Action Movement (PAM) party. He was the Premier of Saint Kitts and Nevis from 21 February 1980, until the twin-island state gained independence from the United Kingdom on 19 September 1983. Upon independence, he became the 1st Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis and as such has been hailed as "The Father of the Nation." Sam Terrence Condor (born in 1949 in Basseterre) is a Kittitian politician and former Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis. Condor has a BA of economics from the University of Sussex. He was a member of the Labour Party, and since it gained power in 1995, he has also served as the Leader of Government Business in the National Assembly of Saint Kitts and Nevis. In the administration of Denzil Douglas, Condor was also the former Minister of National Security, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Labour, Minister of Immigration and Minister of Social Security.
