The Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia ( sr, Министарство заштите животне средине, Ministarstvo zaštite životne sredine) is the ministry in the Government of Serbia which is in the charge of the environmental protection. The current minister is Goran Trivan, in office since 29 June 2017. History The ministry was established on 31 July 1991. Over the years, several departments were added and removed in the Ministry's jurisdiction. The area covered by the Ministry mostly included Environmental Protection, Natural Resources, Spatial Planning. From 2004 to 2007, the Environmental Protection department was under Ministry of Science jurisdiction. In 2011, the Mining department of the Ministry of Mining and Energy was added to the Ministry only to be removed in 2014. Serbian Progressive Party
The Serbian Progressive Party ( sr-cyrl, Српска напредна странка, Srpska napredna stranka, SNS) has been the ruling political party of Serbia since 2012. Founded by Tomislav Nikolić and Aleksandar Vučić in 2008 as a split from the far-right Serbian Radical Party (SRS), the SNS served in opposition to the Democratic Party (DS) for the next several years. Running on an anti-corruption platform, it managed a strong performance in the 2009 Belgrade local elections, and in the same year, became the strongest opposition party. After signing a cooperation agreement with New Serbia (NS), the Movement of Socialists (PS), and the Strength of Serbia Movement (PSS), it organized protests in 2011, demanding early parliamentary elections. The Second cabinet of Mirko Marjanović was elected on 24 March 1998, by the parliament of Serbia. The governing coalition was formed by Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), Yugoslav Left (JUL), and Serbian Radical Party (SRS). After the signing of Kumanovo Agreement and the entry of NATO forces in the Serbian province of Kosovo and Metohija, all members of the Government from the Serbian Radical Party handed in their resignations, while continuing to perform their duties until the end of term. Mirko Marjanović
Mirko Marjanović ( sr-cyrl, Мирко Марјановић, ; 27 July 1937 – 21 February 2006) was a Serbian politician who served as the prime minister of Serbia from 1994 to 2000. Biography Marjanović was born on 27 July 1937 in Knin into a large working-class family with 7 children, where he finished gymnasium. He had four brothers and 2 sisters and his father Dušan worked in a local factory, while his mother Marija was a homemaker. During the season of 1955/56 he played as a winger for the football club HNK Dinara that is based in Knin. Marjanović later then moved to Zagreb where he attended musical academy which he ended up not finishing because he moved to live in Belgrade. In 1960, he graduated at University of Belgrade's Faculty of Economics, more specifically at the department for microeconomics.
