The Ministry of Culture and Tourism () is a ministry responsible for formulating cultural and tourism policies of Mainland China. Its headquarters are in Chaoyang District, Beijing. It was formed on 19 March 2018; its predecessors were the Ministry of Culture and China National Tourism Administration. History On 19 March 2018, the Government of the People's Republic of China announced that the Ministry of Culture and China National Tourism Administration have been merged to create the Ministry of Culture and Tourism at the first session of the 13th National People's Congress. That same day, Luo Shugang was elected Minister of Culture and Tourism. Xiangsheng
Xiangsheng (), also known as crosstalk or comic dialogue, is a traditional performing art in Chinese comedy, and one of the most popular elements in Chinese culture. It is typically performed as a dialogue between two performers, or rarely as a monologue by a solo performer (similar to most forms of stand-up comedy in Western culture), or even less frequently, as a group act by multiple performers. The Xiangsheng language, rich in puns and allusions, is delivered in a rapid, bantering style, typically in the Beijing dialect (or in Mandarin Chinese with a strong northern accent). The acts would sometimes include singing, Chinese rapping, and musical instruments. Luo Shugang (; born 27 May 1955) is a Chinese politician. He has been the Minister of Culture since December 2014. He formerly served as executive deputy director of the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party. Luo is a native of Nangong, Hebei province. He began working in February 1971, and joined the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) in September 1981. China National Tourism Administration
The China National Tourism Administration (CNTA; ) was a Chinese government authority responsible for the development of tourism in the country. The CNTA was subordinate to the State Council. Its headquarters are in Beijing, with regional branches in various provinces. The predecessor was the China Travel and Tourism Administration (later renamed the China Travel and Tourism Administration) established in 1964. It was once an agency directly under the State Council in charge of tourism. CNTA does not have the authority of a full department within the Chinese government to enforce regulations, but in other respects it acts as a ministry.
