The Ministry of Culture (french: Ministère de la Culture; ar, وزارة الثقافة) is a Ministry (government department), government ministry of Lebanon. History The Ministry was formed in 1993, originally as part of the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education from which it became a separate entity in August 2000. A new law was passed in October 2008 regarding a re-structuring for the Ministry. It now has responsibility over matters of cultural heritage, heritage, antiquities, arts, literature, cultural industries and management of cultural and historical property. Tasks and responsibilities The ministry's remit includes various tasks such as planning cultural and sectoral policy, organising and sponsoring literary and artistic affairs, developing the knowledge economy and establishing and co-ordinating expertise. Ghazi Aridi
Ghazi Aridi (born 17 October 1954) is a Lebanese people, Lebanese politician who has held various cabinet portfolios. He was the minister of public works and transportation from 13 June 2011 to December 2013. Early life Aridi was born into a Druze in Lebanon, Druze family in Baisour on 17 September 1954. Aridi studied physics at Lebanese University. Career Aridi is a physics teacher by education and worked in a high school in Aley before dealing with politics. Ghassan Salamé ( ar, غسان سلامة; born 1951) is a Paris-based Lebanese academic. He served as the Lebanese Minister of Culture from 2000 to 2003. Muhammad Baydoun
Muhammad Baydoun ( ar, محمد بيضون; 5 February 1952 – 17 May 2022) was a moderate Lebanese politician and served as a member of the Lebanese parliament from 1992 until 2005. He also served as minister of power and energy as recently as 2005. He participated in many rallies organized by the 14 March coalition. Early life and education Baydoun was born into a Shiite family in Bachoura, Beirut, on 5 February 1952. His family were originally from Bint Jbeil in South Lebanon.
