Ministers-President Of Saxony-Anhalt
The Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt is the head of government of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt. The office was created in 1990 after the German reunification and the joining of Saxony-Anhalt in the Federal Republic of Germany. The current Minister-President is Reiner Haseloff, heading a coalition government between the Christian Democratic Union, the Social Democratic Party and the Free Democratic Party. Haseloff succeeded Wolfgang Böhmer in April 2011. The Minister-President's seat of government is known as the State Chancellery (german: Staatskanzlei) and is located in the state capital, Magdeburg, along with the other cabinet department. Reiner Haseloff
Reiner Haseloff (born 19 February 1954) is a German politician who serves as the Minister-President, Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt. On 9 October 2020, he was elected President of the Bundesrat. His one-year term started on 1 November 2020. Political career Reiner Haseloff joined the then bloc party CDU of the GDR in 1976. He has been a member of the state executive of the CDU Saxony-Anhalt since 1990 and was deputy district administrator of the Wittenberg district from 1990 to 1992. From 2004 to 2012, Haseloff was deputy state chairman of the CDU. Since December 2008 he has been a member of the CDU federal executive committee. From 2002 to 2006, Haseloff served as State Secretary at the State Ministry for Economic Affairs and Labour under minister Horst Rehberger in the first cabinet of Minister President Wolfgang Böhmer. Reinhard Höppner
Reinhard Höppner (2 December 1948 – 9 June 2014) was a German politician (SPD) and writer. Höppner held a Dr. rer. nat. in mathematics. In 1990, in the first (and last) free election in the assembly's history, he was elected a member of the East German People's Chamber (''Volkskammer''), becoming the assembly's vice president. He became the 4th Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt in July 1994 when, his SPD (party) having failed to secure an outright majority, entered into a minority governing coalition with the Green party. This was controversial at the time because most had expected that the SPD, if denied an overall majority, would govern in coalition with the PDS, successor to the old East German ruling party: together the SPD and PDS would have had an overall majority. Christoph Bergner (born 24 November 1948) is a German politician and member of the conservative CDU. Bergner was the 3rd Minister President of Saxony-Anhalt from 1993 until 1994. Life and political career Christoph Bergner was born in Zwickau, Sachsen. After finishing his agronomy studies in 1971, he earned a doctorate and worked as a research associate at the ''Institut für Biochemie der Pflanzen der Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR'' from 1974 until 1990. Wolfgang Rauls (born 17 June 1948) is a German politician of the Free Democratic Party (FDP). He was the last leader of the National Democratic Party during the ''Wende'', before its eventual merger into the Free Democratic Party. After German reunification, he entered state politics in Saxony-Anhalt, serving as Minister for the Environment and, eventually, Deputy Minister-President in the CDU cabinets from 1990 to 1994.
