The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Mauritius is the official council which advises the President of Mauritius, President of the Republic in the making of major decisions. It is led by the Prime Minister of Mauritius, Prime Minister and a total of 23 ministers and the Attorney General, who is considered to be a cabinet member. The constitution of the Republic provides a cabinet under the leadership of the Prime Minister that must be appointed by the President after each general elections. A cabinet minister must be a member of parliament whether directly or indirectly elected, with the exception of the Attorney General. The Attorney General, who is part of the cabinet, is appointed at the discretion of the President and on the advice of the Prime Minister. Alan Ganoo (born 17 January 1951) is a Mauritian politician who has been elected to serve as member of the Legislative Assembly and National Assembly on 9 occasions.   Early life and education Alan Ganoo was born in Port Louis, his father was a police sergeant and he grew up with four sisters and two brothers. Under British rule of the 1800s his ancestors migrated to Mauritius from Maharashtra, India. He completed his secondary education at Royal College Port Louis. Jaya Krishna Cuttaree, GCSK (June 22, 1941-19 December 2018) was a Mauritian politician. Early life and education The son of a tailor, Jayen Cuttaree grew up in Rose Hill, Mauritius. He was the descendant of Indian immigrants who had landed in Mauritius in the 19th century during which it was a British colony. Cuttaree attended Royal College Curepipe in Mauritius.
