The Government of Croatia ( hr, Vlada Hrvatske), formally the Government of the Republic of Croatia ( hr, Vlada Republike Hrvatske), commonly abbreviated to Croatian Government ( hr, hrvatska Vlada), is the main executive branch of government in Croatia. The Second Government of the Republic of Croatia ( hr, Druga Vlada Republike Hrvatske) was the Croatian Government cabinet led by Prime Minister Josip Manolić. It was announced on 24 August 1990, when the previous prime minister, Stjepan Mesić, left Zagreb to assume the Croatian seat at the Yugoslav collective presidency following armed insurrection by ethnic Serbs. During the cabinet's duration Croatia declared its independence from Yugoslavia on 25 June 1991. Željka Antunović
Željka Antunović (; born 15 September 1955) is a Croatian former politician who served as acting president of the Social Democratic Party between April and June 2007, and as Minister of Defence from 2002 until 2003 in the second cabinet of Ivica Račan. She was the first and to date only female holder of the office. Born in Virovitica, Antunović entered the political scene in 1990 when she joined Social Democrats of Croatia (SDH), a centre-left party formed after establishment of democracy across Yugoslavia – and originally a major rival of SDP, who had in turn recently succeeded the League of Communists of Croatia (SKH). However, following disastrous results of the SDH in parliamentary elections, the party accepted the SDP's offer of unification, which occurred in 1994. The Seventh Government of the Republic of Croatia ( hr, Sedma Vlada Republike Hrvatske) was the first of two Croatian Government cabinets led by Prime Minister Ivica Račan. It was appointed on 27 January 2000 by a decree of the Acting President of the Republic and Speaker of Parliament, Vlatko Pavletić. The cabinet was confirmed by a parliamentary vote of confidence in the Chamber of Representatives on 2 February 2000, with 122 of 151 Members of Parliament voting for, 1 against and 1 abstaining. Pavao Miljavac
Pavao Miljavac (3 April 1953 – 5 December 2022) was a Croatian Army general. He served as Chief of General Staff between 1996 and 1998, and between October 1998 and January 2000 he served as Croatia's Minister of Defence in the Cabinet of Zlatko Mateša, following Andrija Hebrang's resignation. He ran in the January 2000 general election on the centre-right Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) ticket, and won a seat in the Croatian Parliament. Andrija Hebrang (; born 27 January 1946) is a Croatian physician and politician. A member of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), he is a former member of the Croatian Parliament. A physician by vocation, Hebrang had served three terms as Croatia's Minister of Health (1990–1992, 1993–1998, and 2003–2005) and spent three months as Minister of Defence (May–October 1998) under six different Prime Ministers. Gojko Šušak
Gojko Šušak (; 16 March 1945 – 3 May 1998) was a Croatian politician who held the post of Minister of Defence from 1991 to 1998 under President Franjo Tuđman. From 1990 to 1991 he was the Minister of Emigration and in 1991 the Deputy Minister of Defence. Born in Široki Brijeg, he attended the University of Rijeka in 1963. In 1969 Šušak emigrated to Canada where he worked in the restaurant and construction business and rose to prominence within the Croatian diaspora in North America in the following decades. In the late 1980s he became a close friend and associate to Franjo Tuđman, leader of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) party seeking Croatia's independence from Yugoslavia.
