The Minister of Agriculture and Land Affairs was, from 1996 to 2009, a Minister of the Cabinet of South Africa, with responsibility for the Departments of Agriculture and Land Affairs. The portfolio was created in 1996 when the positions of Minister of Agriculture and Minister of Land Affairs were merged. In the 2009 cabinet reorganization after the election of President Jacob Zuma, the portfolio's responsibilities were divided and transferred to the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries and the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform. Derek Andre Hanekom (born 13 January 1953) is a South African politician, activist and former cabinet minister. He is currently serving as a presidential envoy for South Africa mandated to promote investment with a focus on tourism. He was previously Minister of Tourism from 27 February 2018 until 29 May 2019. In his capacity as Minister of Tourism he was responsible for South African Tourism, the official national marketing agency of the South African government, with the goal of promoting Tourism in South Africa both locally and globally. Lulama "Lulu" Marytheresa Xingwana (born 23 September 1955) is a South African politician who served as Minister for Women, Children and People with Disabilities from November 2010 to May 2014. André Isak "Kraai" van Niekerk, born in 1938 in Eshowe in KwaZulu-Natal, is a former South African politician. He obtained a Ph.D. in Agriculture at the University of Stellenbosch, and then worked in several research positions before settling down in Rugseer near Kenhardt as a sheep farmer. The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform was, from 2009 to 2019, one of the departments of the South African government. It was responsible for topographic mapping, cadastral surveying, deeds registration, and land reform. The department fell under the responsibility of the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform, which for most of the department's existence was Gugile Nkwinti (2010 to 2018). The department's name was commonly abbreviated DRDLR. Significant components of the department included the Deeds Registries, the office of the Chief Surveyor-General, the Chief Directorate: National Geo-spatial Information (South Africa's national mapping agency), and the Land Claims Commission.
