Minister For Emergency Services (Western Australia)
Minister for Emergency Services is a position in the government of Western Australia, currently held by Stephen Dawson of the Labor Party. A separate emergency services portfolio was first created in 1982, for the government of Ray O'Connor. It has often been held by the Minister of Police, and on two occasions (from 1983 to 1990 and from 2001 to 2008) the two portfolios were merged under a single Minister for Police and Emergency Services. The current minister is responsible for the state government's Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES). The Government of Western Australia, formally referred to as His Majesty's Government of Western Australia, is the Australian state democratic administrative authority of Western Australia. John Day (Australian Politician)
John Howard Dadley Day (born 24 December 1955) is a West Australian state politician. He was a Liberal member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 1993 to 2017. Personal life Day was born on 24 December 1955 in Middle Swan, Western Australia to John and Myfanwy Day. His father, who survived the Second Battle of El Alamein, died when Day was 17 years old. Attending Guildford Grammar School, Day later completed a Bachelor of Science, and a Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Western Australia going on to work at the Perth Dental Hospital as well as other clinical situations including Canning Vale Prison. He later set up a private practice with his sister Elizabeth working in such places as Wundowie, Glen Forrest and Beverley. David Black (historian)
David William Black (born 1936) is a Western Australian historian. He has lectured and written extensively on Australian and Western Australian history, especially political history. He was Professor in History and Politics in the School of Social Sciences and Asian Languages at Curtin University of Technology until his retirement in 2002, and is now professor emeritus. He is currently Chairperson of the Parliamentary History Advisory Committee, and a Parliamentary Fellow (History). He has had numerous publications and considerable media exposure in regard to parliamentary history in Western Australia. Minister for Road Safety is a position in the government of Western Australia, currently held by David Michael of the Labor Party. The position was first created in 1965, for the government of Sir David Brand. In 1975, responsibility for road safety was transferred to other ministers. It was recreated in 2008, for the government of Colin Barnett. The minister is responsible for the state government's Road Safety Commission, a standalone government department. Fran Logan
Francis Michael Logan (born 25 February 1956) is a former politician in Western Australia, who was the Minister for Emergency Services and Corrective Services in the McGowan Labor Government from 2017 to 2021, . He was elected to the south western electorate of Cockburn for the Labor Party in 2001, and retired from the Legislative Assembly in 2021. Biography Logan trained as a mechanic in his native England before emigrating to Western Australia in 1980 after travelling around Asia. Joe Francis (politician)
Joseph Michael Francis (born 11 December 1970) is a former Australian politician who was a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia from 2008 to 2017, representing the seat of Jandakot. He was a minister in the Barnett government from March 2013 to March 2017, and was considered a front runner for the Liberal Party leadership until he lost his seat at the 2017 state election. Troy Raymond Buswell (born 19 March 1966) is a former Australian politician who was a Liberal member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2005 to 2014, representing the seat of Vasse. He was Treasurer of Western Australia in the Barnett Ministry from 2008 to 2010 and from 2012 to 2014, and also held several other portfolios.
