Minister For Aboriginal Affairs (New South Wales)
The New South Wales Minister for Aboriginal Affairs is a minister in the Government of New South Wales with responsibility for administering legislation and policy in relation to that state's indigenous Australians in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The current Minister for Aboriginal Affairs is Ben Franklin, who also holds the portfolios of the Arts and Regional Youth, appointed with effect from 21 December 2021. The minister assists the lead portfolio minister, the Deputy Premier, Paul Toole, who was appointed with effect from 6 October 2021. Together the ministers administer the portfolio through Aboriginal Affairs NSW, an agency of the Department of Premier and Cabinet, as well as a range of additional government agencies. Ultimately, the minister is responsible to the Parliament of New South Wales. Ben Franklin (Australian Politician)
Benjamin Cameron Franklin (born 1972/1973) is an Australian politician. He served as a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council from March 2015 until March 2019, representing the National Party. He resigned in 2019 to contest the Legislative Assembly seat of Ballina, but was defeated by the incumbent Greens MP Tamara Smith. He was subsequently appointed in May 2019 to fill the casual vacancy caused by his own resignation. Franklin has served as the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, the Minister for the Arts, and the Minister for Regional Youth in the Perrottet ministry since December 2021. Prior to his election, Franklin served as the State Director of the Nationals between 2008 and 2015. Unsworth Ministry
The Unsworth ministry was the 79th ministry of the New South Wales Government, and was led by the 36th Premier of New South Wales, Barrie Unsworth, representing the Labor Party. After the surprise announcement in June 1986 that Neville Wran would retire as Premier, NSW Labor Leader, and from Parliament with effect from 4 July 1986, Unsworth, then a Member of the New South Wales Legislative Council, was elected as the leader of the NSW Labor Party and thus became Premier. However, by parliamentary convention, Premiers are members of the Legislative Assembly. Don Harwin
Donald Thomas Harwin (born 5 July 1964) is an Australian politician. He was the New South Wales Special Minister of State and the Minister for the Public Service and Employee Relations, Aboriginal Affairs, and the Arts in the second Berejiklian ministry since April 2019; and the Vice-President of the Executive Council, and the Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council since January 2017 in the Berejiklian government. He briefly resigned from his roles with effect from 15 April 2020, however was reinstated on 3 July 2020. 2019 New South Wales State Election
The 2019 New South Wales state election was held on Saturday 23 March 2019 to elect the 57th Parliament of New South Wales, including all 93 seats in the Legislative Assembly and 21 of the 42 seats in the Legislative Council. The election was conducted by the New South Wales Electoral Commission (NSWEC).
