Minister For Information (Ghana)
The Minister for Information in Ghana usually heads the Ministry of Information. This position has existed in various configurations until the cabinet reshuffle of 16 July 2014 when President Mahama merged the functions of this ministry into that of the Ministry of Communications with the Minister of Communications having oversight for both Information as well as Communications. On 16 July 2014, Mahama had another cabinet reshuffle involving a lot of ministries. Florence Oboshie Sai-Coffie
Florence Oboshie Sai Cofie or Oboshie Sai Cofie (born 6 April 1953), is a Ghanaian politician and a media executive. A communication specialist with over 20 years experience in governance, diplomacy and international relations, media relations and reproductive health advocacy. She was a deputy chief of staff in the Kufuor administration until she was appointed as deputy minister. In the second term of President John Kufuor she was Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Information from 2006 to 31 July 2007. Starting from 1 August 2007, she served as President Kufuor's appointee as Minister of Information and National Orientation, succeeding Kwamina Bartels. Peter Kwamena Essilfie Bartels (born 27 October 1947) is a Ghanaian politician and former government minister of the New Patriotic Party. Biography After graduating from Mfantsipim School in 1968, Bartels was admitted to the University of Ghana, where he studied law. After obtaining his bachelor's degree in 1971, Bartels continued his studies at the Ghana School of Law in order to become a professional lawyer. In 1979, Bartels first contested for a seat in the Parliament of Ghana, but was defeated by a People's National Party candidate. Jacob "Jake" Lantei Otanka Obetsebi-Lamptey (4 February 1946 – 20 March 2016) was a Ghanaian politician and advertising businessman. He was co-owner and general manager of Lintas W.A. National Democratic Congress (Ghana)
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a social democratic political party in Ghana, founded by Jerry Rawlings, who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001. Following the formation of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which ruled Ghana following the military coup d'état on 31 December 1981, there was pressure from the international community to restore democracy. The NDC was formed as the ruling party ahead of elections in 1992, in which Rawlings was elected president, and in 1996 Rawlings was re-elected as the NDC candidate. Rawlings' second term ended in 2001. The NDC lost the presidency in the 2000 election, and it was not until the 2008 election, that they regained it with John Atta Mills as its candidate.
