Minimalistix
Minimalistix was a progressive trance music project from Belgium, consisting of members Dave Lambrechts, Janus De Decker, Johan Casters, Peter Bellaert and Steve Sidewinder (Andy Vandierendonck) Poison Ivy (Els Mortelmans) voice and performance on stage and existing from 2000 to 2010. The group was started by Bellaert (alias Brian Koner) who purchased his first synthesizer at the age of eighteen, and gained his first recording contract in 1991, when he signed to Snowball Records. The group first gained mainstream recognition with the white label single, "Struggle for Pleasure" (a remix of the 1983 Wim Mertens track) in Belgium dance clubs. In 2000 the track reached the Top 10 of European radio dance tracks. Two of the group's singles reached the Top 40 in the UK Singles Chart. "Close Cover" peaking at #12 and "Magic Fly" (remix of Space's 1977 hit) at #36. Meanwhile "Struggle For Pleasure" reached #38 in the Dutch chart, and "Close Cover" made #34. Sunlight (DJ Sammy Song)
"Sunlight" is a song written and produced by Spanish disc jockey DJ Sammy with vocals provided by Dutch singer Loona. It was released in May 2002 as the second single off DJ Sammy's second studio album, ''Heaven'' (2002), and reached number eight in the United Kingdom, number 21 in Ireland, and number 28 in the Netherlands. Music video There were two videos made for the single. One video featured time lapse photography of locations around the world of people walking in urban areas, traffic, clouds drifting on mountains and waves on a beach. The other video featured time lapse photography of Palma de Mallorca and Loona singing on the beach. Wim Mertens
Wim Mertens (; born 14 May 1953) is a Flemish Belgian composer, countertenor vocalist, pianist, guitarist, and musicologist. Life and work Mertens was born in Neerpelt, Belgium. He studied social and political science at the University of Leuven (graduating in 1975) and musicology at Ghent University; he also studied music theory and piano at the Ghent Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. In 1978, he became a producer at the BRT (Belgian Radio and Television, now called Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroep). For Radio 2 (Radio Brabant) he produced concerts by Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Meredith Monk, Urban Sax and others, and hosted a program called ''Funky Town'' together with Gust De Meyer (with whom he recorded the experimental album ''For Amusement Only''). Their work is associated with the short-lived space disco genre and is a precursor of electronica. Trance is a genre of electronic dance music that emerged from the British new-age music scene and the early 1990s German techno and hardcore scenes. Trance music is characterized by a tempo generally lying between 135–150 beats per minute (BPM), repeating melodic phrases and a musical form that distinctly builds tension and elements throughout a track often culminating in 1 to 2 "peaks" or "drops". Lost Witness
Lost Witness is the English trance producer and DJ Simon Paul (also known as Si Paul), working in collaboration with songwriter Edward Barton, writer of the 1983 Jane & Barton single, "It's a Fine Day" (later covered by Opus III in 1992), and vocalist Danielle Alexander. He also recorded under the aliases Dusk Til Dawn and The Eden Project. A number of their singles co-written and produced by Simon Kemper were released on major electronic dance label Ministry of Sound. Some included remixes by English producer and DJ Lange. Scala & Kolacny Brothers is a Belgian women's choir conducted by Stijn Kolacny, and arranged and accompanied by Steven Kolacny on the piano. Regi Penxten (born Reginald Paul Stefan Penxten on 4 March 1976) is a Belgian DJ and record producer, of many eurodance and trance projects in Belgium, including Milk Inc. and Sylver.
