Mindaugas Timinskas
Mindaugas Timinskas (born March 28, 1974) is a Lithuanian former professional basketball player and basketball coach. He represented the senior Lithuanian national basketball team. College career Born in Šilutė, Lithuanian SSR, Timinskas played NCAA Division I college basketball, in the United States, at Iona College, from 1993 to 1997. Professional career After college, Timinskas returned to Lithuania. Timinskas began his pro career in the 1997–98 season, after he signed with his home town team of Šilutė. At the time, the team was playing in the Lithuanian Basketball League (LKL). Timinskas left his main mark in his career, while playing with the Spanish Liga ACB club TAU Cerámica, during the EuroLeague 2000–01 Finals. During the finals, he had three double-digit scoring games, most notably with 18 points scored in Game 4, to force the series to a fifth and final contest. The Lietuvos krepšinio lyga (LKL) Finals is the championship finals series for the top-tier level professional club basketball league in Lithuania, the LKL, and the conclusion of the league's postseason. The Finals have been played in either a best-of-seven, or a best-of five format. The first LKL Finals series was held in 1994, and was contested by Žalgiris and Atletas, with Žalgiris winning the series 3–1. Žalgiris Kaunas has been the most successful team, having won 22 out of the 27 LKL Finals series that have been played so far. Lietuvos rytas Vilnius is the only other team to win the LKL Finals. The Lithuania men's national basketball team ( lt, Lietuvos nacionalinė vyrų krepšinio rinktinė) represents Lithuania in international basketball competitions. They are controlled by the Lithuanian Basketball Federation, the governing body for basketball in Lithuania. EuroBasket 1995
The 1995 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 1995, was the 29th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe, which also served as Europe qualifier for the 1996 Summer Olympics, giving a berth to each of the top four teams in the final standings. It was held in Greece between 21 June and 2 July 1995. Fourteen national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. Basketball at the Summer Olympics has been a sport for men consistently since 1936. Prior to its inclusion as a medal sport, basketball was held as a demonstration event in 1904. Women's basketball made its debut in the Summer Olympics in 1976.
