Mind Games (John Lennon Album)
''Mind Games'' is the fourth studio album by English musician John Lennon. It was recorded at Record Plant Studios in New York in summer 1973. The album was released in the US on 29 October 1973 and in the UK on 16 November 1973. It was Lennon's first self-produced recording without help from Phil Spector. Like his previous album, the politically topical and somewhat abrasive ''Some Time in New York City'', ''Mind Games'' received mixed reviews upon release. It reached number 13 in the UK and number 9 in the US, where it was certified gold. The album was recorded while Lennon was having difficulties with US immigration and at the beginning of his 18-month separation from Yoko Ono. The title track was released as a single at the same time as the album. The album itself was later reissued several times throughout the 1970s and 1980s. John Lennon
John Winston Ono Lennon (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 19408 December 1980) was an English singer, songwriter, musician and peace activist who achieved worldwide fame as founder, co-songwriter, co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the Beatles. James Lee Keltner (born April 27, 1942) is an American drummer and percussionist known primarily for his session work. An acoustic guitar is a musical instrument in the string family. When a string is plucked its vibration is transmitted from the bridge, resonating throughout the top of the guitar. "Out the Blue" is a song written by John Lennon and originally released on his 1973 album ''Mind Games''. The song is included on the 1990 boxset ''Lennon'', the 2005 two-disc compilation '' Working Class Hero: The Definitive Lennon'', the 2010 album ''Gimme Some Truth'' and the 2020 compilation album ''Gimme Some Truth. A vocal register is a range of tones in the human voice produced by a particular vibratory pattern of the vocal folds. These registers include modal voice (or normal voice), vocal fry, falsetto, and the whistle register. Registers originate in laryngeal function. "Aisumasen (I'm Sorry)" is a song written by John Lennon released on his 1973 album ''Mind Games''. The song is included on the 1990 box set ''Lennon''. Lyrics and music The song's lyrics have Lennon apologising to wife Yoko Ono. Aisumasen is a slightly corrupted version of the formal term ai sumimasen, which means "I'm sorry" in Japanese. The line "It's hard enough I know to feel your own pain" reprises a theme found in a line from Lennon's earlier song "I Found Out." After the lyrics run out, a guitar solo is played. Authors Ken Bielen and Ben Urish interpret this solo as a continuation of the plea for forgiveness. The solo ends abruptly, which Bielen and Urish suggest symbolises the rejection of Lennon's plea. ''John Lennon Anthology'' is a four-CD box set of home demos, studio outtakes and other previously unreleased material recorded by John Lennon over the course of his solo career from "Give Peace a Chance" in 1969 up until the 1980 sessions for ''Double Fantasy'' and '' Milk and Honey''. The anthology was divided by its compiler and co-producer, Yoko Ono, into four discs representing four eras in Lennon's solo career: "Ascot", "New York City", "The Lost Weekend" and "Dakota".
