Minami-Otaru Station
is a railway station on the Hakodate Main Line in Otaru, Hokkaido, Japan, operated by Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). The station is numbered "S14". Lines Minami-Otaru Station is served by the Hakodate Main Line. Layout The station has one island Platform with two tracks. The platform is in a shallow cutting. The station has automated ticket machines, automated turnstiles which accept Kitaca, and a "Midori no Madoguchi" staffed ticket office. Platforms History As one of the intermediate station on the Horonai Railway, opened on November 11, 1880 provisionally and on November 28 formally. On May 22, 1881 the station was relocated and renamed after the station was burned down. It was again renamed as on June 11, 1900. The present name Minami-Otaru was given on July 15, 1920 when the former Chūō Otaru Station, located closer to the city center, became Otaru Station. Hakodate Main Line
The is a railway line connecting the cities of Hakodate and Asahikawa via Sapporo in Hokkaido, Japan. It is one of the trunk lines operated by the Hokkaido Railway Company (JR Hokkaido). The Sawara Line, a 35 km loop line from Ōnuma to Mori opened in 1945, is included as part of the Hakodate Main Line. The Sapporo—Minami-Otaru section was the first railway line opened in Hokkaido (including the Minami-Otaru - Temiya Line to the Otaru Port). is a rechargeable contactless smart card ticketing system for public transport in Sapporo, Japan. Hokkaidō Railway Company (JR Hokkaidō) introduced the system from October 25 2008. Its name means "the card of ", while 北 is also the first character of . Hokkaido Colliery And Railway Company
was a company engaged in coal mining, railway operation and shipping in Hokkaidō, Japan. The company was established in 1889 when the state-owned and Horonai Railway were sold to the company.
