Jebel Ali ( ar, جبل علي) is a port town south-west of Dubai. The Port of Jebel Ali, Jebel Ali Port is located there. Al Maktoum International Airport has been constructed just outside the port area. Jebel Ali is connected to Dubai via the UAE Exchange (Dubai Metro), UAE Exchange (formerly Jebel Ali), Danube (Dubai Metro), Danube (formerly Jebel Ali Industrial) and Energy (Dubai Metro), Energy stations on the Dubai Metro. The Gardens is a neighbourhood in the Jebel Ali district of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. History The Gardens community is in the northeast part of the Jebel Ali Village area. The original Jebel Ali Village was constructed in 1977 to provide accommodation to construction contractors' staff. At this time, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum planned to develop Jebel Ali into an industrial area with its own airport (now Al Maktoum International Airport to the south), port (now the Port of Jebel Ali), and township (now Jebel Ali). The garden city movement was a 20th century urban planning movement promoting satellite communities surrounding the central city and separated with greenbelts.
