The Milwaukee Wave United was an American professional soccer team, which last played in the A-League, the American second division. The Wave United was formed and joined the A-League after the Milwaukee Rampage folded in 2002. The team announced that it would withdraw from the A-League on November 9, 2004, and play an exhibition schedule starting in 2005. A-League Men (known as the Isuzu UTE A-League for sponsorship reasons) is the highest-level professional men's soccer league in Australia and New Zealand. At the top of the Australian league system, it is the country's premier men's competition for the sport. A-League Men was established in 2004 as the A-League by the Football Federation Australia (FFA) as a successor to the National Soccer League (NSL) and competition commenced in August 2005. The league is currently are administered by the Australian Professional Leagues (APL), contested by twelve teams; eleven based in Australia and one based in New Zealand. Milwaukee Rampage
The Milwaukee Rampage are a former defunct professional American soccer team, that was located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which played in the A-League. History Founded in 1993 by Milwaukee area businessmen Dan Doucette and Jim Hock, the Rampage played its first game on June 24, 1993, against Siarka Tarnobrzeg. Head coach Boro Sucevic fielded a team which included Tony Sanneh, Brian McBride, Kris Kelderman, Joey Kirk and Steve Provan. The Rampage played another six exhibition games that summer before playing in its first full season a year later. The team entered the 1994 United States Interregional Soccer League where it fell to the Minnesota Thunder in the Midwest Division final. This set up a rivalry between the two teams which continued until the Rampage's departure in 2002. In 1995, the USISL split into an upper and lower league. The Milwaukee Wave is an American professional indoor soccer team based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Founded in 1984, they have been the oldest continuously operating professional soccer team in the United States and are seven-time league champions, most recent being the 2018–19 champions of the Major Arena Soccer League. The team plays their games at the UW–Milwaukee Panther Arena. The team colors are black and yellow. Sam Sloma
Samuel Mark Sloma (born 29 October 1982) is an English former footballer, who played defender/midfielder. His teams included Woking, Wimbledon, and Dagenham & Redbridge. He played for the Great Britain football team at the 2009 Maccabiah Games in Israel, winning a silver medal. Early life He was born in Enfield, England, and is Jewish. He left school at 16 years of age to pursue a professional football career. Football career Sloma started out as a trainee with Wimbledon, where he captained their youth side, before being loaned out to Hampton & Richmond Borough. In 2002 he then signed for Aylesbury United, making a total of 18 appearances, before moving on to Wingate & Finchley, with whom he played 167 times up until 2006. Sloma also played in the United States in 2004 for Milwaukee Wave United in the A-League.
